The TIDAL HIFI people will be reading this thread :~) I can give specifics if required but, in general, I'm seeing they have a much smaller selection of new classical releases than the other lossless streaming service I use (the French one). For example, I found 33 new October classical releases on the French site. Of these, only 13 are available from Tidal - the other 20 were not found. As a side note, it is very difficult to find new releases at all. There is a "What's New" section, but no way to break that down by genre (I'm primarily interested in classical and jazz - don't want to wade through all the other genres I'm not interested in). And if I go to the section where it *is* broken out by genre, there's no "new releases" filter John Walker - IT Executive Headphone - SonicTransporter i9 running Roon Server > Netgear Orbi > Blue Jeans Cable Ethernet > mRendu Roon endpoint > Topping D90 > Topping A90d > Dan Clark Expanse / HiFiMan H6SE v2 / HiFiman Arya Stealth Home Theater / Music -SonicTransporter i9 running Roon Server > Netgear Orbi > Blue Jeans Cable HDMI > Denon X3700h > Anthem Amp for front channels > Revel F208-based 5.2.4 Atmos speaker system Link to comment

We want to make you all aware that there is lots of music still on the way in. Some of the US label deals came through at the very last minute before launch and then add the logistics of submitting and ingesting the music. But we will certainly hang out here on this thread and prioritise up whatever's wanted here if there is a queue. Link to comment

We have a classical editor sorting those pages. It's like the What's New section, but only for the genre you're after. Can you give me some examples of missing classical albums? Some might be stuck in queue. The silly thing was that we have most music, but for some of the major labels - we have to ingest everything over again to get US territory rights correct with them and this causes a rather big queue. I can assure you that there's very few labels we don't have agreements with - so most repertoire should be there. Link to comment

flatmap
I'm primarily a classical listener. Is there no way to search for composer? For example, I can search for Stravinsky and find albums where he is conductor, but how do I find all albums containing works composed by Stravinsky? Really struggling with this. Would really like advanced search. For the future I'd very much like full featured navigation of classical titles by composer, era, country/region, type (e.g. sonata, opera, suite, symphony, etc.). The sound is a clear step up. Good work! For some albums, not all tracks are active. Perhaps the the delay with the ingestion queue that you mention above. E.g., see Aimard at Carnegie Hall. The Mac application universally gives me the error "Track Not Valid." I've reported this to the Tidal help desk. 2013 MacBook Pro Retina -> {Pure Music | Audirvana} -> {Dragonfly Red v.1} -> AKG K-702 or Sennheiser HD650 headphones. Link to comment

christopher3393
I'm enjoying Tidal. I would like to see more renaissance/baroque lute music, especially from 3 of the best lutenists currently playing: Paul O'Dette: I only found 3 older recordings Hopkinson Smith: didn't find anything Jakob Lindberg: also nothing Compare with Spotify or Qobuz and you'll see how much is available by these 3. Account Closed
I am really enjoying this service and wish them great success. I would like to see a Genre selection for "New Age". You know, the kind of music that puts you back to sleep in the morning. Also, one for "Ambient/SPA" would be great. This stuff is great for background music while working. Much of this music is there but you have to know the artists to search for. I am listening to David Arkenstone right now and the sound quality is very good with the default output to my DAC but when I run it through JPlay (using Loopback in JRiver) it is outstanding. Best of luck and good wishes. Bob Flood Link to comment

I hope they expose this (via search or navigation features) in their computer and mobile interfaces. I realize it's not much use for popular music, but it's essential for classical, IMO. 2013 MacBook Pro Retina -> {Pure Music | Audirvana} -> {Dragonfly Red v.1} -> AKG K-702 or Sennheiser HD650 headphones. Based on a private preview of an Aurender X100L streaming WiMP at RMAF and the fact that the Aurender software supports searching by composer in addition to song, artist, album, genre, and conductor, I am assuming that such searches can be done on Tidal as well, especially considering how much information they include on the recordings -- see the video of the RMAF seminar when it gets published. Meanwhile perhaps Tidal can confirm this. Brian Walsh Analog Expert / Showroom Manager Music Direct Link to comment

Sounds like someone at Tical needs to talk to eCM...Boy Howdy I second this. Some scattered ECM titles are available on other sites, but nothing reliable. Were TIDAL to make a substantial library available, I'd be much more likely to extend my listening beyond the 30 day trial. As it stands right now for my listening purposes, I don't see the value proposition in TIDAL that would make me spend 2x what Spotify Premium costs. Oh, and hi everyone. WeatherB
The Beatles. Their original albums are missing. I have to assume the record label is playing hardball here, but c'mon, man! Also: When can we expect to see new releases to appear on TIDAL? Is there a certain amount of time after the CD/LP has been delivered to stores? Is there a specific day of the week that we should look for? Link to comment
steveoat
I've spent some time with Tidal and am generally impressed. However, many of the classical music selections from Universal Classics (Decca, Deutsche Grammophon) are missing tracks. This is very annoying when listening to classical music. I've noticed that this is particularly a a problem with the Decca and Deutsche Grammophon Original Series, but happens with many selections. What is especially annoying for a selection is that only one of the tracks is greyed out -- why would one be greyed out, but 15 are available? This is not pop music!! Can this be addressed. Also, I notice that you are missing selections from Harmonia Mundi. Will these be added? Link to comment
