Leonardo Piras
I know it's not "properly audiophile", but I find Subsonic to be a great piece of software for streaming a library of music to various devices (both local and remote, desktop and mobile) in a very convenient way. I was wondering...Does anyone here use it? Has anyone found a proper way to stream native FLAC content without transcoding to mp3? Link to comment

Just turn off any transcoding to MP3 options in the receiving client software and in Subsonic's web interface. Owner of: Sound Galleries, High-End Audio Dealer, Monaco Link to comment

Geoffrey Armstrong
What software do you use on the PC or Mac side? I use XBMC with the XBMC Subsonic add-on. The last time I checked this add-on did not work with the latest version of XBMC at that time, because the developer didn't keep it updated. It only took some simple changes to the code to get it working again. I made those changes and it works fine. If you're interested PM me and I can send you the necessary files. There area other options though, which you can read about on the Subsonic forum. Owner of: Sound Galleries, High-End Audio Dealer, Monaco Link to comment

Leonardo Piras
Question: when you configure Subsonic to play music as "External player with playlist", you basically save a "play.m3u" file on your mac. Then I'm only able to reproduce it from Vox. What if I want to open it with audirvana or JRMC? They don't seem to work. Link to comment
Geoffrey Armstrong
Open the m3u file with a text editor and what do you see? Should be a url for a stream. Try opening this url directly from J River. I think it should work. Audirvana doesn't support internet streams. Owner of: Sound Galleries, High-End Audio Dealer, Monaco Link to comment
