Khim Thapa
Looking for a 2.0 stereo set up and I have zeroed it on Wharfedale Diamond 10.2 bookshelves and Marantz PM 6005 integrated amplifier. I am little confused if they are the right match for each other. Will the amp be under/over powering the speaker or if it is designed to give the right amount of power to the speaker? Wharfedale Diamond 10.2 specs: Suitable Amplifier Power 20-100 Watts Impedance (Nominal) 6Ω Marantz PM 6005 specs: Power output: (20 Hz - 20 kHz both channels driven) 45 W x 2 (8 Ω/ohms load) 60 W x 2 (4 Ω/ohms load) Thanks for your inputs guys Link to comment
PewterTA
Might want to try one of the Odyssey amps. They are about the most impressive amps I've heard for the price. Really can't say enough good things about the amps. Klaus is great to work with and will customize any of the models any way you'd want (and what you're pocket book will work with). Best part is he really requires you to tell him your system and will customize the amp to it...even to the point of knowing exactly what voltage is coming out of your wall outlet to better adjust the amp to it. damhooligan
My current setup is also Marantz with wharfdale. And to me it sounds very good. The amp will have no problem powering those speakers. As far as I can observe , they are a good match. Link to comment
Harpy
You would have up to 50 watts for 86db speakers. Unless you want to drive them to their limits I think it would be fine. Khim Thapa
Awesome. I hope you enjoy them. Yes, welcome, and please let us know if they are a good match for you. Congratulations and I hope you enjoy them very much. This is my first hi-fi stereo setup so I am not experienced enough to tell you how it sounds when compared other set ups but I am very happy with the new sound that I am listening to. I was using my laptop which doesn't have a digital out. Hence was using the 3.5mm to RCA cable between the my laptop and Marantz (I know, it sucks. Crappy Sound card on laptop+feeding the analog sound in, inspite of having the DAC on Marantz) I am waiting on my Fiio E10 so that I can do USB to coaxial digital conversion and feed it into the amp for the superior Marantz DAC to do D to A conversion. Meanwhile I used a optical cable to connect my Samsung HD TV and the amp and played a high definition Queen concert video and WOW what a big improvement. The sound sounded so real and live. I know I didn't give the Wharfedale's enough time to break in but Hey I am already loving the sound coming out of them. I am just waiting for my E10 so that I can start playing my FLACs and feed them digitally. The build of both the Wharfedales and Marantz is top notch and feel solid. The combination of them doesn't sound too bright to me and the bass is exactly where it needs to be though I know the 10.2's can pump more bass if I want them to. I am yet to try and hear what the new set is more capable of..... Link to comment
Harpy
I am glad you like them. Sounds like you are building a nice system. Awhile back I was using analog RCAs from a PC sound card to my preamp. Feeding it pure digital made a world of difference. Enjoy!
