Hi Guys - A few people have reported this post to me. Kenneth asked me before posting if he could use the Buy / Sell Forum for his products. I told him it is OK.

I may allow others to sell in the forum but will start with Kenneth as a test to see how it goes.

I am basically interested as well and contacted him a couple of days ago via PM, but no answer (yet).

Besides which models are available there are a few other questions I first like to have some feedback on:

- How about compliance with EU safety regulations? (I am in Germany)

- What is the return & refund policy in case the item does not match my expectations?

- How about warranty and service?

I understand its a private project, but everyone must have a statement on above issues before going public I think ...

Dear sir,

Sorry for the late reply, cos heavy workload of the day time job during the Chinese Luner New Year.

My PSU is a DIY product, so it is not compatible with the EU safety regulations, but I am sure the product is safe of course.

Product cannot return or refund if not suit your taste.

One year labour and parts warranty will be provided, but not include the shipping cost.

Thanks for your enquiry.

Best regards,

Kenneth Lau

hej!!!This wire just ofc not occ!!!Where you buy this transformer??Taobao??

Hi kisjano - The fact that something is OFC or OCC doesn't really matter in an of itself. There is much more to it that just the process. Some OFC is far better than OCC and vice versa.

Thank You Kenneth for a great PSU. The Service and package was perfect and thank you for the great EMS parceltracking. It took only 4 days to Germany. The sound with the lumin is better now and I would always recommend your PSU.

Would you recommend you Power Supplies as a replacement for a laptop power adapter? I'm currently using a laptop as a music server.

Would you mind to provide what voltage and current rating you needed for your laptop?

Thanks!

Best regards,

Kenneth Lau

Lumin A1 and my handcrafted PSU got a very good comment from the president of Shunyata Research, Mr. Caelin Gabriel!!

See the link below:

Any Pixel Magic's Lumin network music player users here ? - Page 2 - AudioAficionado.org

Quoted from AudioAficionado.com

We have three Lumin music servers. Our current reference room system consists of KEF LS50 speakers and an Ayon Crossfire amplifier. The source includes a Mac Mini music server, Drobo disk array and Bel Canto reference stack.

While the Lumin is a very nice sounding server it does not transcend the Bel Canto stack and certainly is not better than a dCS Puccini (at least in this system). I would characterize its sound as pleasant and non-offensive. There is no digital harshness. The bass is full bodied and rich but somewhat muddled. Don't get me wrong - I really like the Lumin and use them for listening in my home and reference system.

SETUP:

Many people have already spoken about the setup. I recommend that you find a good IT guy to help you if you are not good with computers and network setup. It was a bugger and I had an ex-Boeing IT guy to install it. The problem is not technically with the Lumin but with the setup of the network disk server. We used a QNAP which worked fine once everything was installed correctly. Technical support from Lumin is first rate (in US). They are very helpful and friendly people.

OPERATION:

The app is one of the best I have used. Very easy to use. Playback is almost instantaneous (less than a second). I have not found any clicks or inter-track noises or other anomalies even when playing DSD files. A suggestion would be for Lumin to provide a good app that tags the music files and handles cover art. This is especially a problem with DSD (.dff) files.

UPGRADE: The Kenneth Lau power supply

This power supply is a definite upgrade to the standard Lumin power supply. It substantially improves dynamic contrast and reduces opacity. It cleans up the bass significantly and improves pace, rhythm and timing. I did not hear any downside to vocals or anything else for that matter. All positives and worth the price. If you are looking to replace a top transport and DAC you will want this power supply.
