Promise Pegasus & OSX 10.9 Mavericks -> FAILURE?

Recommended Posts

Am I the only one that has repeated problems with my Pegasus R6 since upgrading to OSX 10.9 Mavericks?

Drive 4 started ticking and red LED lit up.

Then disk 6 crashed:

Command times out on

708 PD 6 Info Nov 5, 2013 00:21:59 Physical Disk has been reset

709 PD 6 Major Nov 5, 2013 00:22:06 Physical Disk is marked as DEAD due to removal

710 LD 0 Major Nov 5, 2013 00:22:06 Logical drive has been set to critical

Perhaps it's just me?

So happy I just backed everything up! :)

I maintain three (3) Promise Pegasus Raid 5: A 12TB, 8TB, 4TB. The 4TB is connected to my 3.4 iMac. The others are connected to my Mac Mini. When OSX 10.8.5 or .6 was released, articles indicated that one of the fixes was correcting a problem with ejecting disks after wake up from sleep mode. Other then that annoying experience that caused me a phenomenal waste of time with Promise Support as I did not know that it was Apple's OSX release that was the trigger, that is the only time I had problems with Promise's Pegasus Raid drives. None whatsoever with Mavericks and Promise Pegasus. There are articles about Mavericks problems with thunderbolt, however. Probably found at MacFixit.

Sorry to learn about your troubles.

Best,

Richard

Thanks Richard

It may be completely un-related, just a coincidence.

Perhaps. Who knows? HDD fail from time to time. And Mavericks may have some influence on the Firmware. Are you up-to-date? Even if not up-to-date, there ought to be some notice from others if there is more than a coincidental crash because of Mavericks. I offered you my experience as contrast for your own assessment. Again, sorry for your troubles.

Best,

Richard
