Tournesol
Wow, Megadeth's latest album, Super Collider actually has a much higher DR on the HDTracks download than on the CD. Now that's how HDTracks should be. Not just a 24bit version of a brickwalled mastering, but a true audiophile mastering in 24bit. Guess Mustaine must have something to do with this since it's their first album on his own label. Mustaine took a cue from then-labelmates Dream Theater and used hi-res to go all the way on sound quality. Link to comment
thrand1
Wow, this is a great result, and as Robert Hutton noted, a positive continuation from their last album. I admit to being slightly disappointed at the outcome of the Countdown to Extinction and Peace Sells 24/96 releases, but it might be time to add the two most recent albums to my queue Any reviews on the content itself? How does it compare to other albums in the band's collection? Office: iPod classic/iPad -> Shure SE425 IEM Home: Oppo BDP-83/Synology DS211j -> Integra DTR-7.8 -> Revel speakers Link to comment
Tournesol
I was disappointed in Countdown and Peace as well. Didn't sound any good. Actually worse than my original CD's. As to the content on Super Collider. Let me start by giving it stars. I would give it 4/6 The opening track Kingmaker is truly great. A speedy track with great riffs and Mustaines has never sounded better. But already on track two, the title track Super Collider, the album suffers. The track is probably the most boring and generic ever done by Megadeth. After that however the rest of the album is actually pretty good. Not great, but good. More of a hard rock album than Thrash. Guess you could call it hard rock with metal and thrash elements. My Equipment: Naim Nait XS, Rega Dac, Squeezebox Touch, Dynaudio Focus 110. Link to comment

Both Thirteen and Supercollider are very good records, and let's face it - there isn't a lot of good hard rock/metal in HR. Link to comment

Do you mean Supercollider or Thirteen? Supercollider is a decent album, not not nearly as good as Thirteen - sonically or musically. But it is still a good album. Link to comment
