Padawan38
Hello, I'm looking for an internal PC drive in order to rip Music lossless files from CD's. Objective is to rip AIFF or WAV files with the highest possible quality, I'm using Dbpoweramp software. I remember times ago Pioneer & Plextor were the best drives but might not be the case today ? Thank you for your feedback Rgds Link to comment
Cycleman
I like this one from Other World Computing: OWC MRF82SD24S Mercury Pro 800/400+USB2+eSATA... in stock at OWC Sturdy, quite fast for even error-checking rips, works with Windows and Mac, and reasonable price at about $100. Dave, who switched to that one from his iMac's internal drive ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Music is love, made audible. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Link to comment

Padawan38
Depends ... I have the recent example with latest Archive Album that took many hours to rip generating errors while on another PC it took between 5->10mn with accurate rip certification. I'm not really confident into my drive nevertheless most of the time it tell "accurate rip". Maybe I'm too worried ... Link to comment

Thank you for your feedback Rgds i just compelled a major ripping project (~2000 CDs), using four different CD drives. This one worked like a champ: Amazon.com: Asus 24xDVD-RW Serial ATA Internal OEM Drive DRW-24B1ST (Black): Electronics It had the highest rip speeds and the fewest rips aborted due to errors. Don't know how many CDs you have to rip, but I've found that for problem discs (maybe 2 percent of the ones I ripped), its helpful to have use multiple drives from different manufacturers. Often times a CD will cause an error on one drive but rip fine on another. The Asus drive is less expensive. Link to comment
