Garf
This has been a project sitting on my shelf for a while, the 2002 Concert For George at The Royal Albert Hall. I had this at one time on DVD, lost it, or loaned it out and it never came back. So several months ago I bought this on bluray. Watched it, loved it as always. Realizing the audio was 24/48, I didn't rush to rip the audio tracks. There are several priceless gems on this recording, and I am glad I finally took the effort to get it into a format I can enjoy on my computer audio server. It sounds good for what it is, and I am not faulting the sample rate here. With the number of musicians they have participating in this event, I am amazed it sounds as well as it does. To me, it seems the recording quality varies, often within the same song. That or its my power (I wonder if I can convince the wife to let me drop $$ on a Red Wine power supply...) I'd imagine the recording of such an event was a logistical nightmare, and quite a challenge to pull off. Which they did very well in my opinion. Standout songs on this are Something & All Things Must Pass with Sir Paul, Carl Perkins' Honey Don't & Photograph sung by Ringo, and the stunning While My Guitar Gently Weeps. foobar2000 1.1.8 / Dynamic Range Meter 1.1.0 log date: 2012-12-19 23:16:41 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Analyzed: George Harrison / Concert For George -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR Peak RMS Duration Track -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR11 -1.31 dB -20.20 dB 1:43 01-Intro DR16 -6.49 dB -25.23 dB 2:22 02-Intro 2 - Eric DR18 -6.90 dB -28.16 dB 2:17 03-Intro - Ravi DR13 -0.10 dB -15.99 dB 8:33 04-Your Eyes DR12 -0.14 dB -16.29 dB 3:24 05-The Inner Light DR12 -0.10 dB -15.32 dB 23:53 06-Arpan DR12 -3.26 dB -17.97 dB 1:29 07-Sit On My Face DR13 -1.56 dB -17.90 dB 4:56 08-The Lumberjack Song DR11 -0.10 dB -13.34 dB 3:21 09-I Want To Tell You DR10 -0.10 dB -11.45 dB 2:32 10-If I Needed Someone DR10 -0.10 dB -11.48 dB 3:51 11-Old Brown Shoe DR11 -0.10 dB -13.07 dB 3:27 12-Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth) DR10 -0.10 dB -12.00 dB 3:56 13-Beware Of Darkness DR12 -0.10 dB -14.52 dB 3:37 14-Here Comes The Sun DR12 -0.10 dB -13.47 dB 3:42 15-Thats The Way It Goes DR10 -0.10 dB -11.39 dB 5:47 16-Horse To Water DR11 -0.10 dB -12.93 dB 3:52 17-Taxman DR12 -0.10 dB -14.91 dB 3:19 18-I Need You DR11 -0.10 dB -12.93 dB 3:50 19-Handle With Care DR10 -0.10 dB -12.04 dB 6:26 20-Isn't It A Pity DR10 -0.10 dB -12.45 dB 5:08 21-Photograph DR10 -0.10 dB -11.87 dB 3:00 22-Honey Don't DR10 -0.10 dB -12.91 dB 3:25 23-For You Blue DR9 -0.10 dB -12.91 dB 4:56 24-Something DR10 -0.10 dB -12.33 dB 3:54 25-All Things Must Pass DR8 -0.10 dB -9.99 dB 6:11 26-While My Guitar Gently Weeps DR11 -0.10 dB -12.59 dB 5:21 27-My Sweet Lord DR9 -0.10 dB -11.42 dB 6:57 28-Wah Wah DR16 -0.24 dB -19.52 dB 5:02 29-I'll See You In My Dreams DR11 -0.10 dB -13.13 dB 6:27 30-Outre - (Old Brown Shoe / Give Me Love) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of tracks: 30 Official DR value: DR11 Samplerate: 48000 Hz Channels: 2 Bits per sample: 24 Bitrate: 1740 kbps Codec: FLAC ============================================================================== Roon Rock running on a Gen 7 i5, Akasa Plao X7 fanless case. jhstn58
I never understood why they left Horse to Water off of the CD. I liked that song. Who sang that song in the film? Jim Link to comment
beetlemania
I never understood why they left Horse to Water off of the CD. I liked that song. Who sang that song in the film? Sam Brown, daughter of Joe Brown. Yes, what a great performance. Indeed, the entire concert was quite amazing with some truly inspired music. IMO, Clapton's best work.
