Mac Mini - Icon from external DAC

Recommended Posts

This icon is displaying on a MacMini screen. Can it be eliminated?

Seems to be coming from the 'Sound' settings in System Preferences. Presumably it is indicating that an external DAC is in use. Can it be set to not display on the screen?

Actually, that means your volume is muted, I think... odd. Try raising the volume and see if it goes away. It should appear only for a coupe seconds and this disappear, and then only when you change the volume.

I think it means the system volume is disabled/overridden (note the "slashed circle") -- it's what I get on my office system when I hit volume-up on the keyboard, because I have Pure Music set to control the volume. Paul's right that it should go away by itself after a couple of seconds. If it's not going away, just restart the mini -- that should do it.
