When playing DSD iso files with mac mini & Mytek

I've had the consistent problem with music dropouts for a second then resumes and loud pop.

sound is awesome: full and robust; but a slight, persistent intermittent "clicking noise" (via headphones).

I had some sort of momentary playback anomaly while listening to a ripped CD that was very short-lived. It sounded like an error in ripping, but I went back and it played through fine the second time. I had pretty much every option turned on.

 

Had something similar this morning -- playing some DSD (via proxy) tracks and on two of them, there was a slight "anomaly" - less than second, at the beginning of the tracks. Replayed them, and nothing.

 

No issues / slowness etc, and I have all the options on :-), hog, direct, max buffers, and integer -- and it does sound really good. (Need my HD 600s though ...).

 

May be a "beta" -- but I won't be rolling back to any lesser official version :-)

A+ is not working anymore...

 

I double click a song and see it loading on A+, but it will not play

I imagine many people would say iZotope, probably some saying that without actually comparing the options, but my recommendation is to go with the one which sounds best to you.

I encountered another issue last night: I was listening to a DSD .iso (no-sound proxies), and several tracks in, in the middle of the track ... silence. The progress indicator in the player window continued to advance, but there was no sound.

That aside, I continue to be impressed with the sound quality.

I have a quick question on integer mode. I'm now running my DAC directly to my amp and using Audirvana to control the volume. Can I use integer mode this way or does it only work with "DAC only" volume control?

If you are using a Metric Halo DAC (e.g. LIO-8), then this beta release of A+ will not work at all.

 

Damien is aware of this and working on a solution.

 

Very much looking forward to using Direct Mode. Thanks in advance to Damien for coming up with imaginative features and bringing us better SQ.

Working successfully with NuForce uDac II async upgrade :-) -- all options (hog, direct, max buffers, int) enabled. Currently using it at work, playlist mode.

Something similar happened to me a couple of times, but I think it was connected specifically with running 1.3.5, then switching to the beta. When I didn't include 1.3.5, I didn't experience the problem. Don't know if you were trying anything like that; just a suggestion for a possible cause.

now that I think about it, my "clicks" may have occurred when 1.3.5 was inadvertently simultaneously open.

I made a little changes to my rig, and "downgrade" my USB interfase to a Teralink X2, i connected thru a ADuM4160 USB Isolator and provide battery power, and now Direct and Integer Mode works and it's amazing, great details and 3D Image sound!!!!!!!! I't surpass the Jkenny Hiface !!!!! wich unfortunately doesn't work in direct or integre mode

Just a reminder that Integer mode does not work on a Toslink interface. Here is a snippet from an old thread on integer mode. Note that Damien is referring to an old version of Audivarna here in conjunction with Leopard, but I assume the Toslink part is still true.

That is the same thinking I had. I put some music from iTunes into the playlist and it sounded like I upgraded my system immensely. Didn't even spend any money!

Damien, just had my second kernel panic (posted about my first attempting to play DSD > PCM earlier). This time, just double-clicked on a normal ALAC track in iTunes and got the panic.

 

What information would you like - assuming you'd like to troubleshoot this issue?

Just installed, and it works fine with Hiface 2!

Can't say much about sound quality yet, but integration with iTunes and Remote App seems at least as good as 1.35 build. No skips or clicks, just a few more seconds to kick off the playback.
