dave_kiwi
I had some sort of momentary playback anomaly while listening to a ripped CD that was very short-lived. It sounded like an error in ripping, but I went back and it played through fine the second time. I had pretty much every option turned on. Had something similar this morning -- playing some DSD (via proxy) tracks and on two of them, there was a slight "anomaly" - less than second, at the beginning of the tracks. Replayed them, and nothing. No issues / slowness etc, and I have all the options on :-), hog, direct, max buffers, and integer -- and it does sound really good. (Need my HD 600s though ...). May be a "beta" -- but I won't be rolling back to any lesser official version :-) Source: 1.0TB OWC Mercury Elite Pro < FW800> Mac Mini (2009 / 10.8.3) 1.0TB WD MY PASSPORT Mac Mini (2009 / 10.8.3) Players (Hardware): MacBook Pro 13 (2011, 10.8.3 8 gig), ATV2 Amp / DAC: Nuforce DDA-100 Speakers: ELAC 201 Software: iTunes & BitPerfect / Audirvana Free / Audirvana Plus / MPD 0.16.6 Connectivity: subject to random changes Link to comment

goldsdad
Got direct mode going, into Mytek via fw. Better to go with Apple Core or Izotope setting? I imagine many people would say iZotope, probably some saying that without actually comparing the options, but my recommendation is to go with the one which sounds best to you. Link to comment
orgel
I encountered another issue last night: I was listening to a DSD .iso (no-sound proxies), and several tracks in, in the middle of the track ... silence. The progress indicator in the player window continued to advance, but there was no sound. Debug info attached. That aside, I continue to be impressed with the sound quality. --David A+DebugLog02_orgel.txt Listening Room: Mac mini (Roon Core) > iMac (HQP) > exaSound PlayPoint (as NAA) > exaSound e32 > W4S STP-SE > Benchmark AHB2 > Wilson Sophia Series 2 (Details) Office: Mac Pro > AudioQuest DragonFly Red > JBL LSR305 Mobile: iPhone 6S > AudioQuest DragonFly Black > JH Audio JH5 Link to comment

levandier
Direct mode sounds simply stunning. Thanks Damien! I have a quick question on integer mode. I'm now running my DAC directly to my amp and using Audirvana to control the volume. Can I use integer mode this way or does it only work with "DAC only" volume control? Link to comment
ericuco
If you are using a Metric Halo DAC (e.g. LIO-8), then this beta release of A+ will not work at all. Damien is aware of this and working on a solution. Very much looking forward to using Direct Mode. Thanks in advance to Damien for coming up with imaginative features and bringing us better SQ. Jud
A+ is not working anymore... I double click a song and see it loading on A+, but it will not play Something similar happened to me a couple of times, but I think it was connected specifically with running 1.3.5, then switching to the beta. bottlerocket
Just a reminder that Integer mode does not work on a Toslink interface. Here is a snippet from an old thread on integer mode. Note that Damien is referring to an old version of Audivarna here in conjunction with Leopard, but I assume the Toslink part is still true. "The toslink output build-in the Macs is NOT integer capable. So whatever the DAC it won't happen..... Damien" Link to comment

Jud
Thanks for the advice, I deleted the software and reinstalled from the link on this thread without success. I guess one thing that's still possible is to see if blowing away the A+ preference files and starting fresh will help (presuming you only deleted the application itself and not the other files it leaves on the computer). I don't recall offhand where those preference files are (they usually have "plist" in the name), but some of the other folks who frequent the forum should know. jhwalker
Damien, just had my second kernel panic (posted about my first attempting to play DSD > PCM earlier). realmassy
Just installed, and it works fine with Hiface 2! Can't say much about sound quality yet, but integration with iTunes and Remote App seems at least as good as 1.35 build. No skips or clicks, just a few more seconds to kick off the playback.
