gian33
Hello CA readers, I've been a member for over two years but I never post, this site has been of great help. I have my music collection in a Western digital MyBook Live NAS. I use two windows computers for playback in diferent rooms and I had no problems setting that up, but recently I bought an iPad 3 and I can't get it to play the files in the nas. I have iTunes server enabled in MyBook and home sharing in iPad. I would appreciate some help because I'm lost here. I'm new to apple devices. Sorry if this has been asked before, I didn't find anything. Thanks, Giancarlo. Link to comment
cvision123
The iTunes service on your WD NAS is not a "real" one. This is the result of the reverse-engineering process of iTunes communication protocol. Thus, it just allows iTunes on PC/Mac see the library on the NAS as a shared one. If your NAS supports UPnP then you can enable it on the NAS. After that you can use PlugPlayer app on iPad to access music on the NAS. Note that PlugPlayer does not support hires playback. I tried it with dacmagic plus and camera connection kit but the output is always 44.1 kHz. Link to comment
