Berkeley Alpha DAC / DCS Debussy

Hello All,

 

Haven't made the leap to the Berkeley Alpha USB (have the DAC) and am ready to pounce but if I consider the cost of the unit then add in a USB cable and a second balanced digital cable...throw in a power cord...I'm now knocking on a door in the neighborhood of the Debussy.

 

Any thoughts would be welcome.

I have both DACs. The sound is very different between the two. Neither DAC is right or wrong, just different. The Alpha / Alpha USB combo is more airy on top whereas the Debussy is fuller down low with a lot of punch. There are a few dealers who carry both units. Hopefully you can listen to them in your system.

An Alpha USB and associated bits is still less than the Debussy and I am still entralled with the DAC.

So not night and day as my local hifi hut alleges?

Night and day is impossible to define and used frequently in audio circles :~)

 

The two are very different inside, outside, and sound wise.
