    Ok.

If I understand this correctly you have three options:

    A) NAS to router and DAC to router + control point

    B) Router wifi to Ethernet bridge to switch to NAS & DAC

    C) Router wifi to Ethernet bridge to switch to DAC + USB disc to DAC

For C, the DAC must contain an uPnP server in order to browse the USB disc music library.

Router wifi to Ethernet bridge to switch to DAC + NAS ..... and NAS' USB to DAC will not work the way I see it, but nothing would please me more if proven wrong. I think this configuration will behave like B) when using uPnP/DLNA but I don't think the NAS will be able to stream to the DAC via its USB port.

it's actually a little bit different. at the moment I have this working:

    PC>wireless router...wireless ethernet switch>DAC.

in this scenario my pc and router are in the office and this brings the ease of use the closest to the Squeezebox Touch.

    the options that I'm contemplating:

    A) wireless ethernet switch<NAS>DAC (2x ethernet).

this way the NAS, with minimserver installed on it, is connected via ethernet to the network in order for me to access it with a control point (e.g. UPnPlay, MediaHome, etc.) and is also connected through ethernet directly to my DAC. I've heard people say that it's better to have server and renderer linked directly to one another (which would be similar to a direct ethernet connection from my pc to my DAC).

    B) wireless ethernet switch<NAS>DAC (ethernet, USB).

the only difference would be that I would connect the DAC via USB to the NAS. I'm not sure that UPnP can work through USB, but my guess that it won't work, since my DAC is only renderer and has no server capabilities.

I hope I was able to make it clearer now. I sometimes tend to be a little prolix.

    BTW: > = direct connection; ... = wireless
