Yep, and even some cheaper Sony players no longer do DSD channel delays or bass management. I loved their XA777ES...ah the good ole days.

Yes, I wrote the book (guide) on PS3 ripping. :) I sent you a PM. I love JRiver (and also HQPlayer) as they will play both unextracted SACD ISOs as well as, of course, the extracted DSF files. ...

As my review states many times I would be surprised if you could find an SACD/universal player that sounds as good via multichannel. Good luck. And yes, I have several terabytes of multichannel DSD...

LOL..was just gonna recommend that, esp after you mentioned your progress screen went to 100%+ (that's an early app problem that was fixed). Anyway, good to know the old school solutions still work.

I commented early on that going wireless (80211N) was completely transparent to any sq. I will go back to wired when I return from a few days away (family wedding) and also try the GIGO, but...

Alcarp, I said the exact opposite (as did Barrows and others). A DIY music server system, with much optimization, hard work, money, direction, experience and quality parts, can certainly have the...
Several of the folks over on the JPlay forum are followoing AudioPhil's (creator of Audiophile Optimizer for WS2012, a tremendous tool) lead and building both controlpc (client) and audiopc...

Potentially, yes. Out of the box, I doubt it. When you buy a CAPS you are buying into some tweeking potential, some care and feeding, and some need to get into Windows 8 and turn almost everything...

+1 Great summary, on both the sound comparisons and the comments about Auralic and the app (I edited cuz I hate copying a large post unnecessarily).

By the way...we are ALL using computers. :) You think there's no computer in your NAS? Or in the Aries? It's not really about computers but instead the upkeep and feeding associated with taking...

Yes, the Aries is not a music server, nor should it be compared to one......but I will still go out on a limb and say, at this juncture, that the Aries is easily a better alternative than a stock Mac...

Don't let our feedback on USB cables or sata cables keep you up at night...especially those of us who use Xeon and true ECC memory. There are dozens on the jplay forum and here (audiophil, tjhub,...
Yes, we were pushing the idea of having the JCAT guys (Marcin, Josef) help sponsor an audiophile mobo idea. Hasn't gone anywhere so far...just some folks wish lists that's all. :)

I can report that the Aries plays very nicely with the M2Tech Young DSD dac. It is a fully USB Class 2 compliant little dac, and frankly sounds nice so far with the Aries (a nice...
I am turning my attention to the DLNA aspect of this. I went and fired up the Auralic Aries and JRIver DLNA server, then controlled it via Jremote. The Genre view was well populated, but it got me...
He's talking about here:
I go in some detail about this (importing custom views into JRemote) on my screencast videos. So what we would like to see is what your genre view description...

The relative SQ was easy as it followed the SQ of my cabling. USB was the best, followed by AES and then coax. But my USB cable (and the fact that it was the only one that did DXD and DSD128) is...

I tested the Aries with the PS Audio Directstream DAC (and yes, as per DS thread I installed the latest DXD-capable firmware back in early June). This test was not for serious listening,...
Fair enough. I was mostly reacting to "most DACs currently on the market".
?? There are over 120 on the market currently that support DSD file input. In fact, I know of only a handful since this time last year that have been intro'd without DSD capability (incl Berkeley...

No problem (but now I know why your Lumin app couldn't find a device :) ). I will report back on more of the Aries-Directstream working relationship this weekend. It's clear that the DS does DoP...

I'm confused. As long as the Aries is live, the Lumin app will see it (it's certainly OH compliant), regardless of DAC compliance. And my PS Audio DS DAC plays all sample rates (incl DSD) via the...

Go to settings on Lumin app and pick the Aries as your device
