Have had a couple of nights playing familiar albums, the new rack seems more fluid than before, smooth if you like. Female Vocals are clearer, take on a greater depth.
Sound stage is about the same,...
A transformer is just as capable of transmitting dirt to the AC line due to parasitic capacitance across the two windings. A reactor in series with the DC lines allows DC to pass (with some...
Well, this is a professional audio manufacturer's opinion.
"In my opinion DSD is completely unnecessary." - Charles Hansen March 25, 2013
So based on that opinion, Ayre are now making a DSD...

This thread started April 4. Now May 21 or wherever you live, and this question is not answered. I have no vested interest in the Ayre DAC, but sympathise with owners who do. There are many reasons...
Have looked but there is none.
Wanna start a business?
Once you have a 12V, 5V for USB and multiple outlets you have it easy. The hard part is to supply the various connectors at the end, the...

The supports are the standard ones that are delivered with the ROS4. They are solid and have no springs and land on an area 1 inch squalre roughly.
The "Discs of silence" consist of two parts,...

JRMC imports the music files' data only into its own database, so the location of the files can be any number of different locations. Data that's imported is the location, cover art, metadata that...

Not going to make this a 6 moons review, but keep it straight.
The Solid Tech Reference 4 rack arrived this week, and lo it was in one piece!
Assembly and instructions
The rack is packed in...
When I diligently took screen shots form Windows Explorer and Foobar 2000 properties on the two files, they certainly have travelled through many pipes, and if you took the same screen shots,...
OK, I was trying to be politely nasty, but anyway.
dBPoweramp properties of the two files for your examination.
Foobar 2000 Properties of Cue 1 and cue 2
There's no difference between the two files. I cannot detect any difference. Furthermore, what's the exercise got to do with SACD and why it failed anyway. Oh wait, it's more preaching again about...
Welcome to CA again.
I read the article comparing the different recordings using 2in tape, Sonoma DAW and Protools for 96/24. From what I can read, you are not going to release any recording in...
SQ = Sound Quality
No specific numbers involved, usually used relatively when comparing.
"The recording's level was too high and it affected the SQ downhill"
The topic is SACD. If DSD is 'unwanted', how come in the last few months, DSD DACs are becoming plentiful and at reasonable prices?
The many years ago was 1999 with considerably less computing horsepower available than today. 1999 just released the Pentium 3, the single processors and typical PCs of that range were ~$4500. Large...

This might be a dumb question... is uPNP a routable protocol, that is, can the home NAS be accessible over the internet?
Could a PC be used as a media renderer in that case, something like JRiver...

The Acoustic Revive cable is awesome on its own, even without the dual conduit aspect. From their website:
USB-1.0SP and USB-1.0PL are equipped with two independent cables consisting of a two-core...
Solaris has a very heavy license fee for non Solaris hardware...... ZFS runs on OSX though wonder how that would work to manage say a disk array on the network?
Still some further digesting, at first glance quite the easy setup.
unRaid doesn't care about what size the drive are, and one can be pulled out so the rest of the array continues....
Read the review and there is an opinion where we clearly diverge.
DSD is needed, perhaps your review needs to compare the Teac with Mytek or Invicta DAC in a similar range of capability, seems like...

One day........a few ifs in the way though....if a bigger room, if purchase Accuphase amps, at the moment an integrated is a good comfort level.
Which is maybe another topic, I find it very hard...
Is it back yet?
A timely article from WServer news explains various RAID schemes also utilising software based solutions, with an OS as well as conventional hardware based RAID. The article defines various methods...
Uncompressed WAV or AIFF consumes 10MB/s.
So a CD can play for an hour, 60 x 60 x 10 = MB, for 100 CDs 60 x 60 x 10 x 100 MB.
ALAC is supposed to be 40%-60% of AIFF size.
You can clearly hear...

To maintain some degree of cancellation, the 0V and the +5V need to be twisted together.
The 0V is desirable to be twisted with the two differential lines, once again to provide a neutral emission....
