  1. The MSB with volume control gives me more flexibility. Once I have it back (it is out for upgrade), I will bypass my USB converter, and connect my CAPS 2.0 over USB and do some comparison between formats. For example, I will be able to compare Patricia Barber Verve as a 44/16 rip, a DSD rip, and the original SACD converted in real time (DSD -> 176/24 PCM) in my Oppo. All three would go straight into my MSB DAC. That would be wise if you are talking about getting the Femto Galaxy upgrade.
  2. ....have a gander here mate..... https://www.hdtracks.com/index.php?file=tutorial&video=dlm-mac
  3. ...try it & then get a "get info" from the file you're talking about, the right click from before & after, that will tell you.....
  4. ...you started rumours about a guy that owned a monkey called bubbles.....
  5. I purchased a Drobo 4 bay unit in 09 & put 4 x 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 drives in it. I've done everything you're not supposed to do to this unit as in removing drives without powering down, unplugging in full power mode etc, etc. This thing has never missed a beat. At one time it would go on a serial crash diet, the new software update fixed that. For me it's simply a back-up for my mac hard drive with time machine.
  6. Hey Zurak, welcome. How much do you want to spend & what is the result you want. If you want true sound you wont get it paying chimps to post you monkeys. There is no quick fix, it's all relevant to your ears & what you like, who gives a flying toss about what someone else wants to listen to, it's yours & you have to listen to it. Go your own way! BTW these are a good thing. http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/showthread.php/42302-FS-Lenehan-ML1-Plus-Speakers-Lenehan-Ribbontek-speaker-cables
  7. ...that wouldn't be the room that had the BDP & the BDA would it? The one with James Tanner as resident? So what day was that? Submitted by wappinghigh on Sun, 10/23/2011 - 19:39. Joined: 02/25/2008 .:. Online .:. Comments: 397 I actually saw one yesterday I actually saw one yesterday At an Audio show here in Melbourne. I didn't hear it as there were too many in the room wanting other things.. But anyway it is released. And it does exists! The sales guy was all about how it reduces jitter on a connected ipod or something.....nothing about it's usb computer interface The whole show had gone mad on connecting ipods, and airplay availability... The best sounding gear was in the (dare I say) old fashioned Bryson Room, and someone who'd hooked up a power conditioner to a 20 year old CD player and receiver..go figure..
  8. @mayhem13......."Our ears are a sucker for increased dynamics. Just ask every engineer out there mixing down albums!" Thought the same, wouldn't that be compressed.
  9. @ itemaudio, ....yes, but as we all know, the computer world is made of tomorrows refuse fill, the cd transport world wasn't started as such & some still don't conceive it as such! There lies the conundrum in what you are suggesting, why would we off load huge amounts of money into digital components when we know they are indeed landfill of tomorrow? Also why would we indeed invest in a format of yesteryear to support a mode of transport that we know is technically floored........? There is for me a definite answer & in my world that would be the day I found the perfect sound I would walk from my audiophile hobby & say good riddance. Reason being that what I have with /room limitations/bad recordings/humidity etc. when sometimes everything lines up it's pure bliss, it's worthwhile. If everything came easy, bah, give me an Aurender....
  10. i bet the system sings too. Pay attention to where you save the file to. Normally on my Mac it either goes to desktop or downloads, it's when they give the downloads those fancy numbers instead of names that send me crook. You have the option to save to where you want & to rename it so your recollection will activate, so the next time the download window appears & the name is highlighted, type your own name/numbers in to jog your memory. My first sortee would be hdtracks.com, pretty easy & you will get the gist of my post.
  11. ... just as an amusement for myself only & not for any arguement base what was the CDP you refer to & for that matter what was your end result as in components & why. Reasons are this is exactly what I'm doing now & am very open to well learnt short-cuts if applicable.
