  1. Hi Kelly Yes I was referring to inner DAC/amps. And yes, the Genelec are "brutally honest”. It is what I like: very dynamic, very accurate... I am missing vocabulary to explain but let say they sound very close to a real musical instrument. I have improved SQ, making more analog the voices and increasing the image with the Gustard + PSU in Mac Mini and A+. But now I have reached the limit of improvements. Because whatever I try changing the readers or the AES/EBU converter or the cables I do not ear the difference. This is why I say that they are good, but after a certain step your reach the limit of resolution of the package. BTW: I have found the Genelec demo in Munich High End far more digital than my system. Frank
  2. I am super happy with my Genelec 8260. However, I realised that if you want to improve the SQ, you cannot act on the DAC which is a key component. The Genelec one is ok, but it could become the limitation of your system once you have improved all the rest. Same for the amps, but I think the DAC is key if you want your system to not sound too digital. Hope it helps Frank
  3. PS: When creating a Playlist via web browser connected to Tidal... I see my new Playlist in the TIDAL folder in the “Playlists” list. The Audirvana contextual menu “Add To Playlist” on TIDAL Albums now shows my new playlist to add song/album. It seems that we have to create first playlist through TIDAL app and not Audirvana. But still did not see anything to get the songs available when offline. Frank
  4. Thanks Miguelito Where is this Menu of tracks/albums ? just see the top bar to switch display from Track to Album, but no Playlist. I have a TIDAL folder in my Playlist list (left column) but did not figure out how to add albums. Do you have to setup a local folder for TIDAL ? will the playlist be available in offline mode ? Cheers Frank
  5. Hi There I’m travelling by plane very often and would like to know whether Audirvana allows to listen to TIDAL when offline ? The Tidal IOS app allows it, but would prefer the quality of Audirvana from my MacBook. Otherwise does not worth for me to pay for HiFi high quality and might return to Spotify. Thanks Damien for the 3 months trial, I’m happylly discovering the Tidal offer. Cheers Frank
  6. Very touching.... (sorry I’m missing some vocabulary here, being not native) I hope their wish to be the first band playing when Bataclan will open again will come true. Frank
  7. Hello Did you solve this problem ?.... I just moved to El Captain and I’m facing exactly the same issue. Thanks in advance Frank
  8. I saw TOOL which is great but there is also PUSCIFER and A PERFECT CIRCLE both bands of Maynard James Keenan. And also give a try to ANATHEMA the last three albums are littles jewels. Very good thread
  9. All Custom IEMS will give you a good isolation, it is not a matter of price, just the quality of the impression. And may be the material, as it seems that silicone gives better isolation than acrylic but I did not compare. Frank
  10. I have been using Bose for several years, flying 2h30 every weekend commuting with home. My last Bose was the QC15. I can say the noise cancellation is very good for in-flight conditions. However I was facing a major problem, which is the acoustic pressure you feel when the Noise Cancellation system is active. I was not hearing it (no sound) but feeling the pressure of "inverse" frequency in my ears. Therefore after 2-3h you really don’t like the sensation in your ears. I then recently moved to IEMS Ears Vision VE6 (after having compared with few other IEMS). And my feedback is : - the cancellation is better than with the Bose (cover a larger range if frequencies) and as soon as you play music you can really forget the external world. - the sound is excellent, Audiophile and better than the Bose.... And so far I'm just using the standard output from my MacBook+Audirvana... I’m waiting for The Hugo ;-) - they are of course very confortable and can use them during hours So for my personal usage, I do not regret at all the move to IEMS. Passive is far better than QC15 in that case. However is you plan to walk with IEMS the sensation in ears is a bit odd (same if you eat)... May be I need to get us of them as they are my very first IEMS. My last advice is to try your IEMS before buying, because there are huge differences and you cannot rely on forums only. According to Head-Fi my initial choice was actually not the best one, the VE6 were far better (even in the same price range). Cheers Frank
  11. Me and friends wanted to try Roon but this credit card policy is not acceptable. Frank
  12. Hi All For those who are in Munich, I would like to suggest to visit Lawrence Audio in Halle-2. After having spent 3 days attending a lot of demo, some very good and others just average, I can say that Lawrence is offering one of the best demo of the show. The Double Bass speakers driven by Avangarde acoustic pre-amp and amps, played very beautiful sound, full of details. The sound stage was very deep and large given the very little room. I did not know at all Lawrence systems, and realised afterward that the very sympathic person doing the demo all day long in a little box was Laurence himself. I don't have the full vocabulary to describe my experience, but this system disappeared totally to let place to the MUSIC !!! I was looking for my next step system and I think I've found my Graal. TAD demoed the CR1 which was also a good experience. PS: I hope I used the righ thread to share my experience. Cheers Frank
  13. I'm also interested by this topic as I need to Synch my Music over two Mac. I'm using Dropbox but I think the Synch problem is the same as with any shared drive e.g. NAS. The main problem I am facing is due to dual access from two computers (MBP and MacMini) to a music library (in my case iTunes and Audirvana). One possible solution is to put the libraries on the local drives and the music files on the NAS (or DroBox folder). But you have to manually (or automatize) Synch between the libraries and I did not find it very convenient, when swapping computers. For the time being, I have put all my files on a "shared" repository (including libraries). I am using DropBox to keep all files in Synch and I try to have only one instance of iTunes or Audirvana running at a time. This solution does not give me full satisfaction as from time to time whilst the Synch is in progress and if two iTunes are running it is the first one which updates its library which get priority for the final status of the Synch. I then ends up with a library which is not the one I recently update with new music or playlists. So I have to dig in the "conflicted" files created by iTunes to restore the version I want. The Synch on a NAS should be must faster and reduce this risk. Like Hajet I'm very interesting to get feedback on shared libraries across two Mac, although I guess no perfect solution exist. Regards
  14. John That is typically why I have chosen Genelec monitors 8260a as you can feel very good bass without pushing the volume. The rendering is very good and with nice impact in the bass register... although it is not a pure HiFi system in term of image and sensitivity. But that was the trade-off I had to do and I do not regret. This of course do not exclude headphones usage, which I found complementary. Frank
