  1. For what it's worth, I've been have the same troubles. I paired a REL T3 sub (that I bought from best buy's Magnolia store) with a peachtree nova. Two months ago, the two year warranty ended. Last week, the subwoofer went kaput. Best Buy has been absolutely worthless with repair options--never buying from them again. I wish there were more quality dealers in my neck of the woods. But yeah, what's going on with these REL subs?
  2. I'm having the exact same problems as dummy. I get the "all files" category which crashes the program. And now search doesn't work. It did last night. It doesn't today. I'm using the current version of JRMC. (still, awesome remote)
  3. Personally, I'd still like an option in the main audio menu to browse by or (or both at the same time if possible).
  4. So y'all convinced me. I finally dipped into my life savings and purchased JRemote It's pretty sweet. Fantastic even. One slight bug I noticed, but it's not a biggie: for whatever reason, when I add songs from search, it will flip the second and third track in terms of playback order. I have no idea why it does this...
  5. Basically I love how software like mediamonkey handles these tags (I don't know off the top of my head if J River does it the same...I suspect it does). When I select a particular artist, it will show all of the albums that have that artist in either the artist tag or the album-artist tag. Like Paul, above, I also use this field to keep track of composer, conductors, or any other name by which I would try to find a particular album. I listen to a lot of classical music and the album-artist tag frequently helps me find albums. For example, I will usually list a conductor or featured musician in the artist field and then the composer in the album-artist field. A lot of classical albums end up being named something like "5th and 7th Symphonies" so just selecting the artist won't tell me necessarily whose symphonies I'm looking at. This is just as helpful when the software will bring up both with a search. Apples generic iphone remote does this pretty well (in fact, it will show me albums that don't come up at all when browsing...I've never figured out why this happens...I have the same problem with other remotes and J River).
  6. Anyone know if JRemote will look at both the artist and album-artist tag when populating it's artist list? If not, this would be a highly desired feature (at least by me).
  7. Hi Everyone, I'm hoping some of you might have insight into a problem I've been having using J River Media Center as a music server. I downloaded J River the other day and am using it on a trial basis. I was hoping to set it up as a DLNA/UPnP server, which I could control via an iphone app. I know Chris has mentioned using plugplayer successfully with J River. I got the server started up all right, but I'm having trouble with the iphone app. I have tried a few different remotes (although admittedly not plugplayer)and they all seem to have the same problem. Basically, many, many albums are not listed according to their artist or album-artist tag. Yet if I know the name of the album, it will show up when I search for it. So I know the albums are somewhere in the server database. Moreover, when I play the album, the phone app will in fact show the right tagging information--as it should since I have tagged everything pretty thoroughly, including artist, album artist, composer...though not genre. I remember having a similar problem when I paired mediamonkey with the apple remote using monkeytunes. Basically, I couldn't find an album by browsing, but could always locate it through a search. I'm currently using a web based remote--anamon--with foobar 2000. It works all right, but doesn't really allow for efficient browsing. The search function, though, is better that what I can with the above setups. Any ideas/thoughts on how I can get J River up and running? Thanks, Travis
  8. Thanks for the response. But I realized I may have been a tad vague. If I use the PCI card, I wouldn't be using it as a DAC, just as a way to transport the signal via a S/PDIF out, as opposed to USB. My Nova DAC would be doing the work either way. So the question I have is whether the S/PDIF output of the PCI card (lynx or Asus STX) would be better than the S/PDIF output of the V Link.
  9. Hi All, I'm currently using a basic Windows XP laptop with USB out to feed my peachtree nova. I've heard from so many sources that the peachtree handles S/Pdif significantly better than USB. So I have two options: I can either buy a cheap desktop and install an Asus Xonar STX audio card. Or I can keep the current system and add a V-Link usb -> S/Pdif converter. My budget is fairly limited. I can get the desktop and card installed for ~$300. The V-Link is closer to $130. $300 is about the upper reach of my budget right now, so I can't consider some of the nicer Lynx cards. Any thoughts or recommendations?
