  4. Hi kramnotwen, I am not sure your issues will be gone by upgrading to the EVO. After trying two different EVOs and numerous configurations (software, PCs/Macs, DACs, cables, power supplies etc.) I still face issues when playing 24/192 tracks. The issue manifests in a different manner depending on the DAC that accepts the SPDIF output of the EVO. In Buffalo (ESS Sabre 9018-based) DACs, you hear some static like noise, mostly evident on the left channel and (sometimes) dropouts. On another DAC, featuring a Wolfson 8805 SPDIF receiver, the device's auto-mute protection kicks in every few seconds and in the rare cases you can actually hear music you can hear light "clicks" on the background. Looking at the SPDIF output on an oscilloscope I see nothing strange, so it shouldn't be an electrical issue. On the digital realm, I tried the following setup to try and record the issue: Foobar2000 and WASAPI output, playing a 24/192 sinewave created in Matlab --> EVO --> BNC to RCA Belden 1694A cable (50cm) --> SPDIF in - ESI Juli@ (tested both internal & external clock sync) --> Audacity with ASIO. The output exhibits some artifacts, especially evident on the left channel (which one wouldn't expect from a bit-perfect output). Send me a private message and I'll send you the 24/192 sinewave I used when trying to troubleshoot this issue. I have recently confirmed these issues with another EVO owner (he had never tried 24/192 so was unaware of the issue). He uses the AES/EBU output. I will be able to try the I2S output as well soon. Perhaps things will be better using that connection - though I'm not really optimistic. It'd be good to know if any other HiFace and/or EVO owners face a similar issue. Speak up people!
  5. Hi mate, What kind of distortion are you hearing? Is it on both channels?
