  1. This issue may be something very simple to solve, but it's driving me crazy. I think it is software settings related. I cannot play 96/32 files with Pure Music or Decibel -44/16 files work just fine. Only a couple of weeks ago, I could play all kind of HD tracks, but not any more. I have not made any changes to my system with the exception of upgrading to new versions of the software I use (Pure Music, Decibel, iTunes). What happens is that when I try to play a FLAC file downloaded from HDtracks (and also the same file converted to AIFF) it starts playing fine, but then, after a couple of minutes, stuttering starts and it gets worse and worse. Some times, there is not even a progressive deterioration of the sound, it's just noise from the very first second. It's very frustrating! I follow all the recommendations from websites and software developers to set my system: all energy savings, automatic checking for upgrades, etc., are disabled. I have my music in a LaCie external drive connected via Firewire. I use an old MacBookPro (4 GB memory) as an exclusive server, which is connected to a Peachtree Decco2 unit via an optical cable. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. L.
