I am not especially qualified to comment on the technical aspects of musical reproduction... but hearing what I hear...with the following configuration: Audirvana Plus > iMac OS X 10.7, 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 > USB-M2Tech Hiface Evo/Evo Power Supply > DEQX-HDP-3 > bi-amped, Mark Levinson 27 & 29 > Magnepan 3.6R. Having fallen in love with my original tiny Magnepans... MMG, I can't remember... bought from Ceto in Drumoyne, Sydney years ago... took them home and went back the next day for the Tympany 4A... imagine them in my tiny flat in Edgecliff... well that was ten years of amazing musical experiences... I still use the original Mark Levinsons (27 ad 28) with my new 3.6R... I say new but they were lightly used and purchased from Bill McLean up the coast... and with the added DEQX HDP-3 [DEQX HDP-3] and help from Alan Langford (at DEQX) to set that up I am in audio nirvana. Funnily enough, I am now almost exlusively using Audirvana [Audirvan.com] as my preferred source... flac files mostly from HDTracks and also ripping my CD collectin with XLD (to flac). Audirvana is a beautiful machine for rendering flawlessly the "music"... don't ask me how it works... all I know is it works very well thank you Damien... speak to Damien at Audirvana... he has the answers. So the 3.6R's are well deep enough and constantly amazing me with the soundstage- depth, width, height- with every kind of music I play. From Earl Hines and Oscar Peterson to this amazing piece from HDTracks [HDTracks] --- type in "Mahler, Gustav" and go to Songs with Orchestra, track 7... Ruckert-Lieder: Liebst du um Schonheit Title: Mahler: Songs with Orchestra Artist: San Francisco Symphony Orchestra Genre: Classical Label: SFS Media Release Date: 2010 Anyway... I'm getting a bit carried away when all I wanted to say is... if I go top the 3.7 model and have to pull it apart to bi-amp I wonder why Magnepan have done that... because I can only think I would get better bi-amping the 3.7 just as I have the 3.6R. Listening to the music....
