  1. That is to say that results vary depending on type of music etc.
  2. As has been mentioned before it really does depend on the track that is being played.
  3. There are a couple of speakers out there I like the look of but the are too tall! Would it be a problem to lie them on their sides???
  4. Thanks Shenzi. Thanks Darren. A few to chose from there. The Edirols look promising. Just got to see if I can squeeze them in!
  5. Looking for some small active speakers that I can hook up to a Sonos ZP 80 / 90. They need to go above a unit in the Kitchen which means they can only be about 22cms (about 8.5") tall. Looking at the Audioengine A2's Any others I should short list?
  6. I always use Madonna - Music When the bass kicks in its a good test of control. Like wise for Stereophonics - Nothing Precious at all. I've heard systems totally loose it with this track. One of my favourite test tracks Pride by Syntax. Just sounds great. When I bought my first set of speakers I used Texas - I don't want a lover and I've always used it since. I usually throw in a bit of what I'm listening to at the time to finish off.
  7. So often increased volume is mistakenly taken as improved fidelity. I remember changing power amps once and being caught by this. Luckily even after taking the volume out of the equation the new amp was still a worthwhile upgrade.
  8. I remember when we first had children, friends of ours who were expecting their first asked us what a must buy was in respect of the baby. I said Sky+ in jest but quickly realised that it was true. Now with all due respect to Ashley and Martin the ADM9.1's are not quite in that league of functionality but they have revitalised my interest in music. From playing old favourites to discovering new stuff my current set up is just so easy to use and the ADM9.1's are at the center of this. Add to this that they sound great and in my current set of circumstances I have my perfect system.
  9. Only you can answer this question. Others can only give you their opinion.
  10. I remember when I first got my NAS and I copied music over to it. Took about 15 hours!
  11. Its ideal for a NAS. You don't need to have your PC on to listen to music (Sonos) I still have music on the PC and when switched on the library just 'consolidates' and all tunes are available.
  12. CD - Lossless - MP3. During the normal course of listening can we actually perceive any differences? I rip everything lossless cause that seems to be the right thng to do but.......
  13. Tim, thanks for this. Had never heard of before and now been enjoying all weekend.
