  1. Thank you so much I've not run across this site before and can't wait to browse through it.
  2. Does anyone know if there is any Hi Res or Re-Masters of The Mamas & The Papas music out there? I've looked on HD Tracks and there's nothing but, have to think there is better than iTunes downloads available. Maybe not.
  3. Hi All I'd love to get your opinions on these speakers as I'm looking to get some nice desktop speakers in this price range. I'm using a Macbook Pro, ITunes, Bit Perfect and no DAC at this time. Any thoughts on theses speakers or others, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Marcus
  4. Wow, Thank You this works great. Also helped me better understand how iTunes actually works.
  5. The iTunes Library is in the default location on the MacBook Pro. Thanks for your help on this I really appreciate it.
  6. Would love some guidance to do this. I'm pretty Mac savvy but have never done this before. Does iTunes make a separate database for the portable drive when it does the consolidate?
  7. This may have been discussed before but I'm trying to find out the best way to have two different hard drives with the same music files on them work with the iTunes Library on my MacBook Pro. I have a LaCie mirrored RAID HD as my main drive with all my music on it. Mostly AIFF and ALAC files. This works great but it's not very portable. What I'd like to do is also put all of my music on a smaller portable drive and have my iTunes library access that as well. I tried using a program called TuneSpan and that worked well for getting my music working on the portable drive but it pointed my iTunes Library only that drive. The LaCie wasn't recognized at that point and the only way to listen to music from the LaCie was to "Restore" the Span. At that point the Portable drive didn't work. Any thoughts on getting both to work would be greatly appreciated. Marcus
  8. I'm looking into getting the FiiO E17 when it's available in the US. The Fostex HP-P1 looks great and will take a true digital input from an iPod but it's also $650.00. Not sure I'm willing to spend that kind of money.
  9. I Have all my music archived as AIFF but everything I'd put on the iPod would be Apple Lossless and 99% of that is 16/44.1 cd rips. I've never tried it but a 24/48 AIFF is a big file to ask a Shuffle to playback.
  10. Thanks for the response. I think for me the classic may be the way to go. I already have an iPhone through work but it's only 16GB so it won't hold as much music as I have. The Touch will be a lot of overlapping functions that I already have with the phone and less storage space. My next step is to get the line out adapter and a headphone amp/DAC to improve the sound quality. Any suggestions there?
  11. Hi All I'd like to hear opinions on which, if either, might be the best portable music player. The iPod Classic or the Touch. Is there a SQ difference between either of them? All of my music is ALAC. Thanks Marcus
  12. Thanks Eloise Great Ideas. Both seam to be really good options but I really like the Fostex because I've been looking for a device like that for traveling as well. Dual purpose is good! Marcus
  13. I've been looking at this as well but have no practical experience with it yet. Does anyone have thoughts on the NuForce DAC's?
  14. Don't get me wrong I love listing in the car, In fact, it's really about the only place I get to listen to music. Thanks for the suggestions. I don't think I'm ready to put a music server in the car just yet but I'll look at the Alpine head units for sure. With where technology is right now I don't see much of a reason to have a CD player in the car. Marcus
  15. Your description of a rattle at certain frequencies sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing. How did you "carefully" clean the voice coil slot? Thanks Marcus
