  1. Great Article on Phil Ochs, I always wondered about him. Never saw him in concert. I notice that you have written a book on KFAT radio. Good for you, it legacy continues on at Kpig. Love that station. Hope you still listen down it Baja. It is on the net. In according to Kpig, it was the first on the net way back in 1999 or something like that.
  2. Hello, I am with Charter Cable at 60Mbps and use there modem, required to do so. So I use a Netgear N900 dual channel wireless router that I own, but I use a Powerline D-Link internet system for my audio. I run one the four Ethernet ports on the router to the powerline system. I find the system downstairs to sound very good. Of course the good Stereo is down there. Big 10" 3-way tower speakers, with a Oppo DVD player and intel NUC computer running Win 7 and JRiver software, right now using a cheap FiiO Dac, but I may get a Schitt or something similar soon. Files (I mean Albums) are kept on an external hard drive. Since the Wireless part of the router exists for our families laptop and smartphone, I am wondering if a Cisco switch or router would improve my system for the audio? Any ideas?
  3. My apple tv, that I am trying to use as a streamer for music does not want to play nice my exturnal hard drive (drive letter D ) that contains my music. I tried what apple says yet it seems revert to the C drive all the time. Any suggestions? The C drive does have a small amount of music on it and it is a SSD drive. Thanks,
  4. Thank you all I am getting now. Will let the group know how it turns out.
  5. Thinking about acquiring a new music server/computer. Will this this unit do the job? Intel NUC D34010WYK, Mini HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, USB 3.0, 4th Gen Intel Core i3-4010U, Consumer Infrared sensor. Amazon.com: Intel NUC D34010WYK, Mini HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, USB 3.0, 4th Gen Intel Core i3-4010U, Consumer Infrared sensor: Computers & Accessories Can I use Linx and the XBMC program to do the job. I plan using a SSD drive. Will it sound as good as the same unit with windows 7 on it? Thank you any suggestions or help in advance.
  6. Hello Audio Elf, I have tried the app for an android tablet or phone. My two Logitech receivers are not synchronized or hooked up to the computer. The light blinks red. The apps do not allow me to setup the system. My system would occasionally get out of synch. The part of the Duet that does not work is the Jog Dial. It no longer moves the cursor up and down the menus. I wish it just the battery.
  7. Hello Firedog, I have tried the app for an android tablet or phone. I might try a touch if I can find one.
  8. My Logitech Duet controller has died. Does anybody have any ideas on a reasonably priced replacement. The easier might be to buy a replacement duet on EBAY. But the new used one might die soon also. There are two things I really like about the Logitech system, 1. The ability to move my music from my computer in my home office to my stereo downstairs. And second is the ability to receive FM radio stations out of my area and listen to them thought the system. So I my question is does Sonos or any other system do this. Can Sonos tie into my present stereo systems, I do not think I would be happy with one of their speaker systems.
  9. Yes I will keep mine, but I had Duet controller die about a year ago. Logitech sent a another one at no charge. I worry about no longer having that great customer service. Made me a fan.
  10. Logitech just announced a new line of audio products. No squeezebox products are in the line. How disappointing. I have a Duet system and while not perfect it does the job and sounds great. Do I need to find another system to move music around my house for under $500.00? Is it even possible in today's audio world where cables cost as much small cars.
  11. Hello, I am one of those who likes my squeezebox even if it occasionally gives trying moments to me. The advantage is you can listen to your music in your living room, Home office or any other room that you may have speakers and a amp in. You can move around and listen to the music. It is very nice. If want to be glued to one room, then your way is the easiest. Have fun! QUOTE=Conga;156394]HI Everyone I must just say that I am sort of playing devils advcocate here? But seriously I am trying to justify why I would want one of these Musicstreamer boxes instead of direct from Laptop/External Drive to Speakers?I asked this question elsewhere and there are many folk who just love these Squeezeboxes ,sonus e.t.c. and I have being asking them to persuade me why I should buy one? also I found an interesting blog as follows:- after reading it I left a message for tim asking why I would need one?? and he kindly replied as follows And to be very honest there was nothing there that made me go WoW! or want to go out and buy one? I told someone on another forum who just loves his SBT... and he said whilst Tims reasons were valid it was only a tech review not a real audio guys review? he aslo told me the SBT as better sound quility? I am not totally convinced of this, not because i am any kind of expert..quite the opposite in fact..but I felt my intended set up which as Dell studio 32 bit at it`s core holding all my music files mostly 24/96---> V-DACII+V-LINK+PSU but not nessercarily the MF-V-PSU? I have seen a few reviews and feedback on using alternative PSU for the V-dac combo one is the Pangea Audio P-100 high performance power supply?to Cambridge Or NAD Integrated amp to Boston acoustics 26s on stands or Q Acoustic 2020i on wall shelves, also later a V-Can Head Amp and maybe AKG 242HD Phones or similar? sure there are several other combos just like to know what you all think.and please feel free to suggest alternative items but roughly in the same price brackets please cheers steve
