  1. Reside in Chicago's West Loop. Besides having to dress like Robo Cop every time I venture out and viewing everyone I see as a COVID version if Linus van Pelt, not much has changed. Oh and having to dial down the volume knowing all of my neighbors are home. Damn!
  2. I would have to agree. Using what I know to be an inferior recording to test my system isn't a first choice. I have always found poorly recorded material is revealed more so in my system. Chesky Records offers a host of quality recordings to set speaker placement, test spatial qualities, sound staging, etc.
  3. Amarra almost had me with recent version in iTunes mode.. As I reported the sound quality is better than 3.0, however; I was comparing 44.1K source material. Realized that with A4 Luxe 4.2.402-166 when in iTunes mode it will not play HIRez files 48K plus. Bel Canto Ref Link and DAC remain in 44.1K. So, not so much. I do have Maverick 10.9 Mac Mini Music Server, although the Amarra support documents say it supports Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 or higher. Fix this and add Playlist in iTunes mode and you have a new customer. otherwise, not so much.
  4. I have not had any playback issues with Amarra Luxe version 4.2.402 while in iTunes integration mode. Files have played without hiccup. Now we just need Amarra to allow for use of Playlist in iTunes integration mode for critical listening.
  5. Surprised to hear from some here early on the most recent version of Amarra Luxe w/iTunes integration is a step back in SQ from the original Luxe version. It is undoubtedly a marked improvement over Amarra 3.0 in my system. Would be interested to know what Sonic Studios has to say regarding the difference in what people are hearing with both versions of Amarra Luxe.
  6. I been following this thread since inception. Had no interest struggling through a cantakerous new library management system. Have countless hours getting iTunes right. Now that iTunes integration was brought back I downloaded a trial version to compare to 3.0. Good lord! A significant improvement in SQ after a couple of hours of listening. Can't seem to create playlist in iTunes integration mode. That would be ideal; then can close iTunes.Perhaps its a PEBCAK.
  7. When can we expect Amarra 4 Luxe with iTunes integration to be released?
  8. For the application you seek, the WD 16TB RAID External Hard Drive @ $599 seems to be the best option for secondary back up of your data at the best price point. Although I chose a OWC solution to accomplish the same objectives, I did so at a cost of $1,179 comparatively.
  9. One Album I use is Allan Holdsworth - All Night Wrong (Live) - Song - "Zone" - Might be what you are looking for.
  10. I have struggled to understand how we got here. I found this to be the best explanation for the anger/discontent that people who supported Trump were feeling. Surely there are those who supported him simply for their dislike of Clinton (and she gave them plenty of fodder). But the core movement I found fascinating. Here is a fantastic account by someone who was on the street in rural Wisconsin. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/11/08/a-new-theory-for-why-trump-voters-are-so-angry-that-actually-makes-sense/?tid=hybrid_experimentrandom_1_na Cheers!
  11. Can't keep track of the number of people that have asked me "What Happened?" over the past couple of days. Best reply I can give is: "In the United States, each party can blame the other for failures of government. And, when the government is divided, each can sabotage the others’ agenda. Only the most sophisticated voters can determine who is to blame. The rest just get angry because nothing gets done."
  12. I have a 2010 Mac Mini (Maverick). Some changes that made improvements: - Purchased a MPC Power Cord for Mac Mini (MPC/Power Cable) - Added RAM to 8gb - Replaced the HD with an Agility 3 SSD - Added a Bel Canto Ref Link USB Convertor All of these changes made a very noticeable difference. Less digital glare, improved micro/macro dynamics and dead quite. Caio
  13. Thanks for heads up Lasker98. The sound quality of this recording(s) is fantastic and the music was very good as well.
  14. After reviewing the multitude of posts, I cannot find an answer to my question regarding Regen SQ. Current Set Up: Mac Mini > BelCanto RefLink USB Convertor (via USB Cable) > Esoteric K-03 (via Coaxial S/PDIF). This arrangement provided a marked improvement in SQ vs directly from Mac Mini > K-03 USB Input. Question(s): Does using a USB Convertor negate the SQ improvements afforded the Regen? Are they doing similar things? Has anyone used a Regen between the Computer and USB Convertor (S/PDIF out to Dac) with noticeable improvement? Example: Mac Mini > Regen > BelCantoRefLink USB Convertor > S/PDIF out to Dac Thanks, Mark
