  1. hi, first post here. I asked this in another forum and it started another boring and repetitive objectivist/subjectivist debate. so maybe common members will recognize the question. I sure hope we won't go into an "all DACs sound the same" type of debate here. so... here it goes. a bit of background first. the problem is that while I have listened to resolving systems, I never had the chance to assist in actual comparisons between differently priced sources. and let's say that I would take any opinion coming from a dealer with a grain of salt accepting that statistically more expensive = better (otherwise more expensive wouldn't make any sense), what are your experiences with going up the price scale in DACs? my experience is that entry-level DACs seem to bring significant improvements in soundstaging, imaging and "liveliness", compared to say a decent sound-card. I'm curious if that scales up with higher price. you may be asking how this question is relevant and you would be right. let's say that I think my system is lacking in some ways and I'm curious to know if I should be hoping to get a significant improvement from upgrading the DAC or I should be looking somewhere else.
