  1. I recently purchased an ART LEGATO usb to spdif converter, which only transmits redbook signals (16/44.1), however there appear to be slight issues under Windows Vista in that sometimes playback via J RIVER or FOOBAR will simply stop randomly every 5 to 10 minutes (despite the track 'time' still continuing). In order to counteract this (working under the "Microsoft is at fault" mantra), I thought I would try UBUNTU as an operating system. In conjunction, I downloaded DECIBEL music player which is simple to use and sounds great. There are no dropouts using this set up. The next step is attempting to locate a bit perfect player for UBUNTU, however the information is scarce online. Is anyone able to recommend some software for UBUNTU which will offer bit perfect playback? If so, how is it to be set up on a step by step basis? [The 'command' style references to UBUNTU and LINUX online are bewildering to say the least!]
