  1. The problem with menus were my 1080p tv for some reason had screen sized such that top menu was obscured and bottom of lower icons were also. I found under/overscan setting which sized it and now everything shows up. the back usb on this sacd player is for computer and then it has one on front for thumbdrive. Says back one will do up to 24/192, but I can't find content to try. First experience is quite positive but I am going to order kimber silver USB and I'll probably also go to the Wyred4Sound DAC1 with 24/96 Async USB. I am having a bitch of a time adding album art to several imported selections....in Itunes.....some just won't add it, no matter what I try....even importing JPGs myself.... Most of my listening is Vinyl on VPI Classic 2 w/ Benz ACE S Low Output cartridge and I'm very interested in exploring sending vinyl to high res. My only disappointment is how tiny of a selection there is of high res files online. It is my personal belief that in 6 years or so, we will all be lamenting how Itunes killed everything audiophile by dumbing America's expectations down again to nary FM quality. Itunes while exploring the viability of Hi Res downloads will most likely ultimately determine that the potential audiophile audience is too small for the trouble..... This is somewhat philosophical but it stuns me how many people love music but aren't interested at all in sound. How many people would opt for a car without a radio these days? If they offered one, would someone say "yes, delete the radio, music's not quite for me". That would be ludicrous, but that same person believes Bose and Itunes is the pinnacle of enjoyment. High End audio's inability to touch a larger audience by simply introducing the pedestrian music lover to a greater experience will ultimately be it's undoing, especially now that this "dumbing down" has trickled down to software as well... If we don't believe it will and can happen, just ask yourself: how many high end audio stores are left in America. I live in a city with over a million people and an NBA team and I can't get in the car to go listen to high end equipment anywhere and in the early 90s, there were five places...... Forgive my ramblings please, but I guess ultimately, I'm saying: If we were a larger force, Apple alone would save the high end audio industry by introducing America to 24/96, but I don't know if it will ever happen based on market size.
  2. Shouldn't be a novice at computer audio, but I am. Bought a mac mini today. My system has a Marantz SA8004 SACD Player which includes usb inputs on front and back that support 24/96 Rest of system is: Vandersteen 2CE Signature Speakers Audio Research VSI60 Integrated Amplifier VPI Classic 2 Turntable Marantz SA8004 SACD Player PS Audio GCPH Phono Pre I connected to the Mac mini with it connected to my TV's HDMI port. No matter whether I had it set for 44KHZ or 96KHZ in the midi setup, nothing came out the speakers at all. I downloaded Amarra and nothing in there helped either. To make matters worse, I downloaded an HD Tracks album in flac, which Amarra says it will play thru Itunes, but for some reason on this Mac, the Itunes has NOTHING IN IT ANYWHERE to add music. I can't figure it out! My PC's itunes has a drop down, add file to lib, add folder to lib etc etc.....this one has NOTHING! NADA! ZIP, just Itunes store, music, playlists, but nothing it seems like to put some music in the library to then be played by Amarra. Amarra also won't open my flacs by itself, but even if it did, it is obvious no music will come out..... Can someone give me a clue what I'm missing????Should I not be using USB for this exercise? Thanks
