  1. I have just one demand actually: 1. Better digital volume with less sound degradation, operated with Apple Remote on iDevice Other wishes include: 2. More flexible/customizable views for library management 3. Library backup without Time Machine 4. Play FLAC files and automatic sample rate settings
  2. Do you know if 11.0.3 solves the following issue, which was mentioned in the thread "Official iTunes 11 Thread (Released 11/29/2012)"? Originally Posted by paugust I've also noticed that iTunes 11 seems to have restricted the ability of the iPad Remote application to control iTunes. When you try to play something in another genre you get the message "The song xyz could be be played because the original file could not be found." (...) This bug also exists in the lastest revision 11.0.1. (...) The same problem occurs if you select a specific composer or artist. You can only access the tracks that match the particular composer or artist selected on your desktop. Many thanks!
  3. In my modest experience this may be caused by the fact that you do not embed the cover art into the music files. I do the following: first of all I place the album art .jpg or .png file on the desktop. Then in iTunes I select all tracks of an album, Ctrl+click and then Get Info: this will open a window for editing the tags of all tracks of the album. Then I drag the album art .jpg or .png file into the Artwork box and click OK. This way iTunes will embed the covert art into each file and you can remove the files remaining on your SSD. I works for me. Hope it helps you as well.
  4. I have a similar same problem. When new, my MBP was running silent all the time, but now the fan is working constantly at full speed which is causing loud and annoying noise. From launch to sleep or shut down, the fan keeps working at full speed, even if I do not launch any application at all, and even if the screen and the hard disk go to spleep after 5 minutes without activity (in accordance with my energy savings preferences). Not sure it is caused by the upgrade from 10.7.1 to 10.7.3 then 10.7.4 but the problem was not there at the beginning. Of course I made sure that no unwanted background process is running. This fan noise makes me crazy. Would you have any idea how to solve this? Your help would be very much appreciated! Thanks for saving my listening pleasure! js
  5. Chris, Many thanks for this. I understand from your excellent reviews of these three CASH products that in terms of sound quality both the Explorer and the Halide DAC HD outperform the Dragonfly to some extent. Now, is the Explorer so good that is also surpasses the Halide? I just bought the Halide and I am courious if I should look at the Explorer as a potential (marginal) upgrade. Many thanks again, js
  6. I have a mid-2011 MacBookPro 13" running OSX 10.7.1. I was perfectly happy until I updated to OSX 10.7.4 a couple of months ago. Since then my MBP has been running a bit slower than before and I see the rainbow-colored spinning wheel more often than before. Fortunately, this has no impact on sound quality: my iTunes 10.6.3 is playing fine, although browsing is a bit slower. But the problem is the fan: when new, my MBP was running silent most of the time, but now the fan is working constantly which is causing annoying noise. Not sure it is caused by OSX 10.7.4 but it started around the update. Even if I don't launch any software after powering up the MBP (no iTunes, nothing else open but the desktop), even if the screen and the hard disk go to sleep (after 5 minutes without activity in accordance with my energy savings preferences), the fan keeps working at full speed without interruption. This fan noise is starting to make me crazy. Would you have any idea how to solve this? Your help would be very much appreciated! Thanks for saving my listening pleasure!
  7. Great, that would be very much appreciated, thanks!
  8. Now JRiver is going to port Media Center to OSX, I have the following two question for the developer of JRemote: - Could you please confirm whether the existing version of JRemote will be able to operate with JRMC for Mac? - If not, could you please confirm whether you intend to develop a JRemote for Mac version and when? Many thanks in advance. js
  9. Many thanks to you all for the info re. features, which some desktop reasearch also provided. One question remains open to me. As I cannot listen to the iStreamer vs the Icon iDo side by side, I would be interested in first hand feedback from actual users among this forum regarding the sound quality. Many thanks, js
  10. Many thanks thrand1, this is appreciated.. I had seen these reviews, indeed. Actually I would be interested in the impressions of anyone in this forum who has got the opportunity to listen to the Icon iDo and the iStreamer (but again, these are not audiophile grade so maybe not the right place). I will probably have a chance to listen to the Arcam drDock soon, so this may be the way to go. All the best, js
  11. Thanks for the suggestion thrand1, this is very much appreciated. I will have a look at the Arcam drDock as well. I also noticed the Teac DS-H01: I could not find many reviews, so does anyone know whether it is a worthwile alternative? Back to the iStreamer vs. Icon iDo: as I cannot listen to these side by side, may I ask whether anyone knows how these compare? Thanks again, js
  12. I know these are not audiophile so maybe not the best place to ask, but if anyone has some feedback regarding iStreamer vs. iDo that would be very much appreciated. As well as any recommended alternatives meeting the above criteria. Many thanks in advance, js
  13. Paul, I just believed JRMC was not playing ALAC. Obviously I was misinformed, thanks for pointing this out. js
  14. Yes I would buy it. I think many are in the same situation as me: I consider Mac as an excellent hardware in many respects but although I am not fully convinced by iTunes and am missing a JRiver-like solution for Mac OS X, I just intend to stay with Mac. So if JRiver becomes available for Mac OS X, I will be among the first to buy. I would need two copies. I very much like JRiver for the sharp audiophile quality, the superb customisation options, the management of large libraries, and last but not least, the excellent JRemote (so much better than the ageing Apple Remote.app). The only thing that I am missing is the Apple Lossless support, but as it is now an open format, I assume that this could be addressed? Thanks, js
