    Audirvana 1.4

Same problem here. Tracks randomly freeze during playback in iTunes mode. Running 1.4.4 on latest version of OS X and iTunes.
  2. Yes -- the mobile version looks great -- thanks for your efforts Chris!
  3. The only reason I suggested trying out a VPN connection is to rule out if his ISP or some party down the line is throttling HDtracks traffic .. You are right, the VPN will add an (or a potentially considerable) overhead but if his download speeds are really poor (due to throttling) then the VPN route may improve things .. I may be very wrong though
  4. Richard -- if you have access to a good VPN (e.g. WiTopia) give it a try and see if it improves your download speed.
  5. The physical format I truly hate are CD's ... now thats what I call audio racism ...
  6. "... and the two cans of what I can only assume is air freshener on atop the back LP case ..." Old ppl fart a lot
  7. For some reason it looks like the one channel (bottom) seems to have more info than the other. Does it still sound balanced while listening? I will probably pick this up tonight and give it a whirl. Thanks for posting the graphs As I stated earlier, the entire album in my setup the left channel sounds very bright compared to the right channel. I would have liked it to be a bit more balanced. Its a bit fatiguing on my left ear :-)
  8. I don't use the PayPal option. The direct CC payment has always worked just fine for me. Try it using your overseas CC and a US address (e.g. HDtracks offices) and it should work ...
  9. Im based in the Middle East and have been purchasing from HDtracks with a non-US IP for years using my US credit card. Ive never had any problems. Just to see if my overseas credit card will work, I tried purchasing the recently available Doors album and the transaction went through OK. I did type in my US address as the billing address but that is not the address associated with my overseas CC. I guess as long as you type in a valid US address your purchase will go through. As for proxy servers, I highly recommend www.witopia.net Some decent folks are running that company.
  10. Bifrost does not change the sampling rate - 44.1 in 44.1 out. It does, however, change the bit depth from 16 to 24.
  11. Attached are the Audacity spectrograms for tracks 6 through 11 (HDtracks version): Track 6 Track 7 Track 8 Track 9 Track 10 Track 11
  12. Attached are the Audacity spectrograms for tracks 1 through 5 (HDtracks version): Track 1 Track 2 Track 3 Track 4 Track 5
  13. I listened to the HDtracks download this afternoon, but before I go further I should confess that I do not have the experience nor do I know the proper terminology or own the proper equipment to compare and contrast two recordings. The only other recording I had at hand to compare the HDtracks version with was a 320kbps MPEG rip of the CD I had purchased back in the late 90s. I do not have the CD in my possession at the moment otherwise I would have made an AIFF rip for comparison. I played the HDtracks version through Audirvana+ with iTunes integration/max up sampling. My overall impression was that the HDtracks version was far superior to my MPEG rip. The instruments sounded crisp and open with a distinguishable depth. Vocals were clear, although I felt on some tracks the vocals tended to sound muddy. It sounded like all percussion instruments have been mixed into the left channel with very noticeable highs which did not balance out the instruments being played from the right channel (e.g. keyboard, guitar, etc.). As a result, I felt a bit sonically fatigued after listening to the entire album. P.S.In honor of Jim Morrison a couple of cans of König Pilsener were employed during the listening session -- no funny stuff was smoked
