  1. Thanks for the reply. So NAA can use whatever sound cards installed.
  2. Sorry for my newby questions, but I still have a few things not clear about NAA. Does the NAA work only with USB output? Can it work with sound cards like RME? Can an NAA work with multiple outputs, like 2 different USB DACs? Thanks
  3. I have solved it. I have the dff and dsf encoder turned off. That's why. Thanks again
  4. I have just moved my alix 2d2 to voyage mpd 0.9rc2, with snd-usb-mytek installed. I have also enabled dsd_usb and dsdiff_native in mpd.conf. But after running mpc update, the database does not contain my dff files at all. Have I missed anything? Appreciate your help and enlightenment. Thanks falcongate
  5. OK, now it works! I restarted my linux box about half an hour ago. I then aplay a music file- and sound came out... And yeah, Mytek's display only shows frequency when it is playing, otherwise "no lock" This is similar to how my dealers's Mac mini behaved, taking a long time for the Mytek to establish connection to the host computer. I don't really understand; I just hope that my linux box and my Mytek will continue to sing together through FW. Thank you very much for all your help!
  6. The linux box has a SIIG PCIe firewire card, which uses TI XIO2200AZGW chipset
  7. I use the FW port on the motherboard of my Win8 machine; it uses VIA VT6308 FW controller chip. Perhaps I should switch FW board?
  8. Yes, I have tried aplay with DICE as my soundcard- still no lock. The USB1.1 port, as explained, syncs up with or without sound. And as described above, the FW port of my Win8 machine also syncs up with the Mytek.
  9. I have just tried the Mytek on my Win8 machine with FW (driver installed), and it works fine- locked at 44.1 with or without sound. So I don't think this is a FW port burnout issue.
  10. I have tried inserting the FW cable on and off the Mytek; no difference at all.
  11. I use SIIG NN-E20012-S2, the pcie card with TI chipset. The dealer's Mac mini is a 2010, I believe, running OSX 10.5.8.
  12. I have finally succeeded in installing the DICE driver into my system by recompiling my real time kernel with the dice driver. I did not get any error message at all. And with the Mytek connected over firewire, the driver is automatically loaded. But Mytek continues to show "no lock" with input as Firewire. When I use USB 1.1 as input, Mytek automatically locks to 96kHz. I saw similar things before. The other day I brought my Mytek over to my dealer for a demo. We installed the firewire driver on the dealer's Mac mini, and for about 5 minutes we could not get the Mytek locked. Then suddenly, through no particular action the Mytek and the Mac synced up. Is there anything I am missing? Would a firmware update help? I appreciate your insights. Thanks
  13. My target kernel is 3.4.20 with rt patch 3.4.20-rt31. I remove the OS check in the build script and update the kernel source path in the build script for my purpose; I figure that the rest of the package should be generic enough for most linux variants.
  14. This is the path to Jurgen's package: InstallDiceFWsupport My understanding is that he packaged the firewire-kernel-streaming branch in git into a self-contained unit. I have tried to compiled my rt kernel with a snd-dice patch taken from sisyphus, but that kernel compilation failed.
  15. Hi Miska, I use Jurgen's dice package to compile, with some minor changes for my debian setup. But my compiled results do not work, perhaps due to missing symbols or something of that nature. It's not easy for me to debug since I get no warning or error message during compilation. I only find out when the driver doesn't load by itself and modprobe results in an error. Is there any alternative source/compiled driver to Jurgen's pacakge? I appreciate your inputs. Thanks
