I'm new in this very interesting discussion. I read every comment and I come late, but back to the original controversy.
For me, ABX test is a chance to humility, to sincerity. A well done ABX test doesn't mean there isn't any difference between 2 samples, but it informs us if in this case we are able to hear it, without marketing arguments or any other parasitical influence. if we aren't honestly able to find that difference (and we see there is a difference, for example if we playback both samples out of phase), we should try to find it, to practice our listening before speaking or writing anything about that difference, too subtle for our perception.
ABX test leads to stress? Certainly if we don't want to recognize our reel limits (especially for those professional who want to sell something).
People prefer proselytism? It's a shame. There are valuable arguments to defend expensive products : fair trade, reliable products, nice design, honest business...
