  1. Well, the Metrum did metion that about 1 in 100 samples will play 192khz, but that he specs them for 176.4. In his words, it's extremely unlikely for someone to end up with a unit that will process 192khz. Either both yours and Srajan's are the 1/100 sample, but the chances of that are, well, 1/10,000. Or, something else is going on; I don't know, but that's how Metrum explained it to me
  2. The Metrum also only does 24/96 effectively. I contacted the manufacturer and confirmed this. The DAC is spec'ed to 24/176.4, but if you feed it a signal that is 24/192, it won't lock and won't read it, and won't auto down-sample from 192 to 176.4. Therefore, the recommendation is to purchase and play 24/96 as the highest acceptable files. Unless, of course, you can find files that're 24/176.4 natively, but I haven't seen those around...
