  1. I'll give it a try, Thanks!
  2. I purchased the Eric Clapton "crossroads guitar festival 2010" video on iTunes. Love some of the songs (chapters) and want to "save" them to my iTunes playlist. Is there any way to do this? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  3. A few points. I have the Dac Magic Plus and I am VERY happy with it (after a long break-in). The AR's were very good in their day but I would be wary of older paper cones. Check the butyl surround to see if it is dried and cracked. If so, time for new speakers!
  4. Well, after much examining I have decided to go with the Cambridge Audio DAC Magic plus. Hard to pick without a listen but based on comments here and popular reviews (including Stereophile), I feel this is the best match for my system. Thanks to all for the great comments, I'll let you know how it sounds after break-in.
  5. Many thanks for the great input. My head was spinning as I dove in to research the many great recommendations. Some, like the Wavelength, I eliminated because I wanted more than 24/96, I am looking for 24/192 (should I be looking for 32/192?) and it must reach this level through USB. Decided to keep the limit to $1,000 (US) so favorites are: Cambridge Audio DACMagic Plus, Emotiva XDA-1, Music Hall Dac 25.3, Musical Fidelity M1 DacA and WYRED4SOUND dac-1/dac2. Since their specs are similar, I am particularly interested in any thoughts on sound quality and reliability. Anyone have any experience with these 4 models? As before, thanks for the great help.
  6. I'm sooo confused and need some help! Have a MacBook running Lion, playing new Audirvana Plus (and loving it). Output to a Marantz AV7005 PreAmp to Denon POA6600 mono block amps to Monitor Audio Gold Reference speakers. Need to buy a DAC and that's where the confusion starts. Don't want to buy a DAC that "outclasses" the rest of my system so my thought was to keep it under $1,000. Looked at a few USB DACs (Emotiva XDA-1, Musical Fidelity M1, Cambridge Dac Magic, ps Audio Digital Link 111, Reconditioned Benchmark and Peachtree Dacit and iDac) all seem to need something "in front" of the usb (V-Link or Halide Bridge) to make them perform their best. Also looking at the Weiss 202 as a firewire alternative. Looking for thoughts/recommendations on smartest route for playing 24/96 and higher (192) files. Is $1,000 a reasonable amount or do I need to spend more to get the most out of the other equipment I currently own? Appreciate any help, LOVE this site!
  7. well... that s*cks! Do you know if any other of the popular Mac platers (Aurdivana, Decibel, Fidelia, etc.) support AirPlay? Thanks.
  8. Need some help, please. Running iTunes 10.5 (64 bit) on a mac book pro with 8 GB memory running Lion 10.7.2. Very happy with sonic qualities of BitPerfect (v 0.32) but when engaged, my "multiple speakers" will not play. As soon as I disable BitPerfect and run thru iTunes exclusively, they work fine. Any ideas?
  9. You wrote: "The sample tracks I had been carting around with me from store to store, and room to room at Axpona, sounded just excellent on the Maggies. In many cases, my "torture tracks" sounded better on the Maggies than on speakers 5x their cost." What are your bass torture tracks? Anyone else have terrific bass tracks?
