  1. It is the user point of view what matters, I mean that list of devices is perfectly valid, they all pursue the same goal, playing digital audio files. In this state of industry development we still find several different approaches to accomplish the same task. I think network players will win in the long run but IMO computer based solutions plus standalone DAC offer the greatest value.
  2. Many of usb to spdif converters sellers offer their products on a home period test basis, I am thinking of ordering a mk2 modded hiface, have no idea about how it will compare against my current RME 9632 PCI card though.
  3. I have just demoed wasapi event style with recommended JRiver buffer setting vs wasapi 1.99 and 20 buffers setting. Well, I have to admit I perceive a difference, and I tend to prefer your settings. But in my system this is very slight, and I find very difficult to say what is sounding different. I would say the music is presented in a more relaxed way, with the highs less congested and airy.
  4. In my case, stuttering only stops once I put some time value at "start delay". It seems wasapi mode benefits from this time in order to synchronize with the audio device. Different buffering values didn't help. Under Wasapi Event Style I don't have any stuttering issues, though.
  5. Hi, I also experienced these kind of pops and clicks until I changed to "wasapi event style". According to Jriver in this mode the sound device gets the data from the software when it needs it and it is recommended when the sound device support it. I think this was implemented in Jriver 15. I use an RME 9632 card with latest drivers and the pops were also present with ASIO.
  6. Hi all! Currently I use a Lynx AES16 through AES/EBU into a Lavry DA10 DAC, would you say is it worth using an external clock such as Black Lion Audio Microclock or a similarly priced alternative? I plan to upgrade soon to a Naim DAC which lacks AES/EBU input so I might need some kind of converter, does exist any external clock that could also be used for this purpose, I mean Lynx card to clock/converter via AES/EBU and clock/converter to DAC via BNC. Thanks for your help,
  7. Hi, I have just bought a Lynx AES16 and I am looking for a d-sub to AES (XLR) cable as you use to connect it to my Lavry DA-10 DAC. Please, could you tell me where can I get one of these cables?<br /> Thanks and congratulations for this useful Web.
