  1. I don't know the Schiit DAC's all that well, but I had both a QB-9 DSD and a Codex at the same time for quite a while, mostly driven through a Stealth Audio USB cable by an Aurender N100H. I liked them both in different ways. The Codex had more bass and, generally, a warmer sound than the QB-9 DSD, but the QB-9 DSD had a more refined treble, IMHO. Of course, the Codex has a very different form factor, a good headphone amp, and a TOSLINK input, which can come in very handy. All that being said, my top choice in that VERY general price range was the Woo Audio WDS-1, although it only supports 24/192 PCM even with the USB input. I think part of what made the QB-9 DSD special in its own way had more to do with the quality of the power supply than support for DSD. On the other hand, the Codex certainly sounded great on 90% of the music that I played and it does support 2XDSD through the USB input (but not the TOSLINK). I wish I could make a more definitive assessment and/or have had more experience with the Schiit product line. One thing for sure is that the Codex came much closer to the sound of the Ayre QX-5 Twenty within its limits than either the QB-9 DSD or the Woo WDS-1. Sorry if I sound a little vague or slightly off-topic. I'm just trying to report what I heard without pretending like I really know the Yggdrasil at all. I hope that helps at least a little.
  2. Hello, I have a 2013 iMac running High Sierra and run that into a Triode Audio Company TRV-CD5SE vacuum-tube CD player and USB DAC by way a of a Stealth Audio USB 2.0 cable (USB A to USB B). The sound is great, but I wanted to see if the iFi iPurifier2 would make it even better, so I borrowed one (the USB 2.0 B model, not the USB 2.0 A model) from a friend, but it's not really working. When I plug it into the USB 2.0 B input of the TRV-CD5SE, all of the Purifier2 lights come on but my iMac can no longer "see" the TRV-CD5SE at all. I can try another USB 2.0 cable. I have a few extras. I'd just really like to use the Stealth USB cable and I have a feeling it might have to do with High Sierra (macOS / OS X version 10.13.6), which seems to have a lot of bugs with disk formatting and USB 2.0 support; although, the firmware in the iPurifier2 might need an update, too? Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Andy
  3. I'm trying to sync my DSD directory, containing DSF files, with my A+ Version 2.X library. I was able to create the library and sync it with iTunes so that everything that goes into iTunes automatically goes into the A+ library. The problem is that now I can't seem to add the directory with DSD files (which iTunes doesn't even know about) to my sync list. I can't drag and drop the DSF files into my Library or to a playlist named, say, DSD. I can only drag and drop the DSF files into the Play Queue. Is that just the way it works or is there a way of having both my iTunes library and my DSD directories reflected in my A+ library? Perhaps I have to start from scratch and, rather than sync with the iTunes library, simply do a one-time import of my iTunes library into my A+ library, then add additional directories such as the ones I use to store my DSD files? I would be OK with that. The manual just isn't particularly clear. It recommends syncing with the iTunes library rather than just importing the files once, but I can't copy .DSF files into my iTunes library with or without the storage settings set properly, and I really just want to cut over and use A+ by itself anyway. Can someone help? Thanks.

    Audirvana 1.4

I'm trying to use Audirvana with a Sonicweld Diverter HR and a Berkeley Alpha DAC Series 2. No matter how I set it, Audirvana just hangs during the initialization phase. Can anyone help with what might be wrong, including what else you need to know from me? Pure Music works fine (and sounds great). Thanks.
  5. I get the same clicks at 16/44.1 when running other applications while trying to run Amarra MINI under Lion. I think it's a Lion issue. If you heard "sputtering", that might be your USB-->S/PDIF converter.
