  1. Hi, still watching and waiting on this one. Haven't gotten it working yet on my Rendu (circa 2014 model) Glad to know I'm not alone! Works well via Bubble, but looking forward to using the Qobuz UI.
  2. Thanks Chris! Just found Roon's statement on UPNP here. Seems like a "maybe" ?? https://community.roonlabs.com/t/does-roon-support-upnp-streaming-devices/56
  3. +1 As a very happy Sonore owner...would be great to have UPNP playback via Roon. Seems like a logical step, so maybe its in the works? More broadly, I don't understand the need for specific hardware integrations. We have a standard, UPNP/DLNA, so why not use it? The benefit of the standard is that you don't need a custom integration for every product.
  4. Just wanted to reply with another thank you and plug for how well Bubble is working now. Very cool that you can create a playlist from various sources (NAS, Tidal, dropbox, local files, etc.) Great work! Significant SQ improvement vs. my previous method of using Tidal, which was iOS > Airport Express > Toslink > Dac.
  5. Yes. I'm now able to stream Tidal via BubbleUPNP to my network renderer.
  6. Thank you for the quick reply! I'll send you the log file. Just tried again, and it *is* playing to the local renderer, but not to my UPNP renderer on the network. To be clear - do you support streaming out to another renderer? Thanks again!
  7. Let me know if this has been covered elsewhere - but is anyone else having trouble streaming Tidal via BubbleUpnp? I get it to see the songs, my favorites, playlists, etc. but it won't play - neither locally on my Android device, nor to the renderer - it just skips from song to song. I'm looking to send Tidal to my Sonore Rendu - so any application (Android or iOS) that can push Tidal to a UPNP renderer would be great. I saw a post from JRiver somewhere (can't find it now) that they are working on it, but were having similar issues with no audio content in the stream.
  8. An opportunity for JRiver or a similar company? I doubt all of the various services (Netflix, Apple, Amazon, Google, Spotify, etc.) will play nice and let you consolidate your rights/library in one place. However, online resource providers for university libraries have been doing this for years so that you can search all of the available resources and sign on using one login. This should be something "the Internet" and web technologies more general would be good at. You don't need to be on the same ISP to send each other email or view a web site. But, with content it seems the walled garden is back.
  9. They already do this extensively and have been since the beginning of the consumer Internet. Akamai is but one example, they were founded in the late 90s. Bandwidth is like new highways - build more lanes on the highways, and more people start driving.
  10. Setting Default Player on JRiver Mac? I asked in the JRiver support forum but haven't received a response. I have a renderer on my network that I want to set as the default player. However, ever time I open JRiver, it defaults to the "player" on my mac. Any tips? Thank you!
  11. Very interesting article on streaming from Pitchfork: Station to Station | Features | Pitchfork "Digital streaming’s predictive algorithms and on-demand capabilities can feel futuristic, but they are built from the fundamental ideas of several music ancestors. Remember, pop music itself was born and nurtured on radio’s non-stop streams of ad-supported music—the most prominent ancestor of the feed-driven Twitter/Facebook/Tumblr landscape that shapes 21st century digital streaming. When cultural critic Geoffrey O’Brien described a radio stream as "an artwork that manages the flow of information and music” within which “the thing coming up will always surpass what went before,” he could have been describing wading through a social media feed packed with audio embeds, letting YouTube sidebar recommendations guide a late-night deep-dive, or pruning a personal Pandora soundtrack designed to deliver the perfect songs, one after another."
  12. I'm not going to bet against Apple, Amazon and Google letting go on their lock on our user accounts (and credit card #'s) and proprietary media libraries any time soon. But, wouldn't it be interesting if record labels or artists could store 1 copy of their album in the cloud, then sell keys for people to access it through a program like JRiver. Would be a fun project for JRiver - they already make the downloaders for Acoustic Sounds and I think HD Tracks and could even piggyback on those store's retail front ends. They could charge a bit extra for a streaming and backup option. Also seems like you should be able to edit your metadata separately from the actual files. You could have your own "library" but the files would live on the cloud. We keep saying this is the way things are going eventually - everything in the cloud, and no more format change overs. Pono mentions streaming in their FAQ. So, maybe its coming faster than we think ;-) Unfortunately, for those of us in the US, the end of net neutrality and the FCC's willingness to roll over and play dead means the bandwidth to make this all feasible for consumers could be available in the EU far sooner than the US.
  13. This has been really interesting to watch. Thank you Chris. I was (and am) still a bit skeptical about how they've decided to launch their business. But, you can't argue with the success they've had on kickstarter. Maybe they'll start out with the same files HD Tracks and others have.* But, if this does take off - and if they are open to posting feedback about the quality of the files - they I think they'll have a real impact on the industry. The most credible thing about this is Neil Young's ability to connect with artists. That feedback, represented by his Pono users, should have a real impact. He's put his money where his mouth is in a big way, and you gotta respect him for that. Meanwhile, I'm still holding out for a Bob Dylan signature player.... *I just read his interview with Audiostream. at that point in the day, he seems to be very aware of HDTracks.
