  1. I'm sure you made somebody happy. I do not understand what is wrong with the Mac+Mytek+Pure Music or Mac+Mytek+AudioNirvana+. I have taken my Mytek to many friends high-end systems and every time something was wrong it was on the amp side not matching the output of Mytek, which could find an easy solution. I do not have all the clic pops that I read here. Problems may come from the files and not the unit. Can you tell us what was wrong ?
  2. Miska, sorry I can't comment on Windows 7 64 bits, I am using a Macbook Pro under snow Leopard. (I also run Windows on Bootcamp for audio recording with Samplitude) and WinOnx for running simple XP programs.
  3. Chris, all I can tell you by personal experience (I had a 24/96K DAC from Mytek among other DACs before the DSD one) is that the service by Mytek in Europe where Mytek is built is outstanding. They will never let you down. I understand the concern of not getting answers on the flight when someone asks a question on a forum, but I'm sure you realize there are many other forms talking about DSD and Mytek and Michal cannot just spend the time answering questions. What they need to do is concentrate on their job and deliver. Soldering is an issue on any hardware over time regardless of price and brand. I have Audio Research, Bryston and other European high-end stuff and you would be surprised if you open them (don't). Be confident that drivers will improve as well as firmware. All I can recommend is that you find a friend who has one and listen.
  4. Hello, I would just summarize like this. If you like hifi (nice, round, pleasing) don't go for it. If you like music, don't hesitate get it. Yves
  5. Hello, I think I have seen a few posts on this. T he rule is, regardless of Mytek or not Mytek, if you want to be on the safe side you must; When you turn on, first turn on the Mytek (and/or CD player, pre-amp, or what ever is before the amp) then after two seconds the amp When you turn off, first turn off the amp, then after two seconds the Mytek. If you do the wrong sequence, you can hear a strange/disturbing noise and be afraid to destroy your speakers. Option is to purchase a special device which will sequence this for you. Yves
  6. Hello, could some people tell me what remote they have bought and configured successfully to implement all functions (not only volume up/down) for the Mytek DAC. Thank you very much, Yves
  7. Hello, I have now listened to my Mytek Dac for more than two month and I must say it is a different DAC from the first day one. The bass is just tight, clean and profound. Image is great, silence is amazing, dynamic is outstanding. Being part of a 'Audiophile' club I have had lot of people at home listening to it, and I have taken it with me (thanks to its size ) to listen on many different high end systems, and all the time people tell me they will change for Mytek. Just be patient and you will be rewarded. Yves
  8. ""What is the problem of using it with PC (Windows)?"" I do not want to enter into a discussion of PC vs Mac, this is not the right place, but since you ask the question, I worked with the PC even before its intro in 1981 (I was working for HAL at that time) and I have provided like many who are a bit literate on DOS/Windows after more than 30 years of practice 'hotline' to family, friends, neighbors etc ... Problems all the time. I switched to MAc two years ago and helped moved family and friends to the Apple. I never had a call for help any more. That is the problem/solution. For Linux, good luck if you are not 'technical'. Yverof
  9. You are right his was on the early units. I just want to say here that Mytek is very concerned about taking care of their customers. At least this is my personal experience with them. Yverof
  10. Harald, I have done the mod myself. It is zero risk. Just use a razor blade or cutter, cut the track and you're. Wiring you see is just some patches applied before release. Nothing strange here, many electronic boards show this. Most important is not what you see but what you ear. I understand your concern about ASIO, this is why I switched to Mac (after being an earlier adopter of PC since it was introduced), I don't have this ASIO and other problems. I know a person who is using Mytek on an intel based PC with Hackintosh successfully with Pure Music or Audirvana. I'm sure if you want to sell it you will find a buyer very easy. Yverof
  11. Mytek is probably the best buy. It is amazing on DSD but not only DSD. SPDIF is also top quality. You also have to consider the price, it's a bargain for what it delivers. I got mine two month ago and after burn in it is just outstanding. I've posted before that many hifi enthusiast friends (including one who owns Wise) will order one after they heard it at home. Don't expect a warm nice and pleasant sound. What you get is what is one the media. Yes it is a small company but the service is also very good. I used to own a 96K Mytek and for the price it was already on top of many much more expensive DAC. I have a few friends who own this. Never had a problem. This new one blows away many more expensive DAC I have heard. All you need is to have 8Go of memory, use Pure Music which by the way is also a bargain compared to AMxxx. Put Mytek on Firewire and external disk on USB. If you want to be on the safe side get a ExactPower conditioner (and plug all the components on it) and you will not be disturbed by electrical or other noises on your system. MacMini does not need tweaking. Remember Firmware and Drivers will improve.
  12. I'm glad you like WinOnX. If you look in this blog you'll find a description(PDF) on the best way to configure WinOnX to run Scarlet or SACD_extract (easier). And many other Windows programs. By the way I just moved from Snow Leopard to Lion and WinOnX works fine with Sacd_extract and also most important with MYTEK and Pure Music. I'm just so surprised by the comments of clics/noise etc .. because I never experienced this. Maybe the ISO files are not well created or extracted? Yves
  13. I'm so happy I moved to Mac No more blue screen, no more calls from friends and family asking for help (I convinced all of them to switch) Using WinOnX I can run all my Windows programs like SACD_extract within Mac OSX, and for heavier Apps I use bootcamp. WinOnX support is VERY good. Yves
  14. Hello, with 2Go of memory you will be very disapointed and think Mytek or PM does not work. You need at the minimum 4Go and 8Go is prefered. I can tell you I hear the difference between my MacMini 8Go and my MacBook Pro 4Go. Also you need to configure OSX so there is no resident or other memory catcher.
