  1. Chris, Thank you for posting this request. I too have been trying to play Tidal via DLNA and have had no success. Hopefully there is a solution. If you come upon a solution, please be sure to share it with the Computure Audiophile community!!!! Best, Battles
  2. Thanks Scott. Sorry I was trying to go by memory and confused "keep remote desktop" with "maintain network connection". I'll try running the latest script and see how that works. Do you happen to know of others with a CAPS Carbon configuration for which the script has worked? Moreover, if it doesn't work, do you know of particular processes that relate to network connectivity or network drivers I should try enabling?
  3. Hi, I was curious if anyone knows where to order Paul Pang's USB, SATA Cables, etc. I have found his blog site but unless I'm overlooking a link, I can't find how to contact Paul and/or order his cables directly? Would greatly appreciate someone steering me in the right direction. Many thanks, Battles
  4. Hi Scott, First, thanks in advance to your contribution to computeraudiophila! At the risk of raising an issue that has already been addressed elsewhere in the thread, I wanted to let you know that I tried your script on my CAPS3 Carbon (configured and built by Small Green Computer) and it unfortunately shutdown my CAPS' network connection. I believe I was using the most current script as of the weekend before last (perhaps v2.4). This occurred in spite of me selecting to "maintain network connection" in the configuration prompts that occur upon running the script. Would appreciate your help on resolving this! Thanks, Battles
  5. Hi Ted, My apologies for the late reply. I just noticed that your PM ended up in my spam filter. In the meantime I ended up figuring out how sacd extract works with a little trial and error. Thanks again for the information and all that you have done for the forum. Contributors like yourself have done an immense and irreplaceable amount for the audiophile community!! Best, Battles
  6. Hi, I was wondering if anyone has successfully set up a squeezebox emulator player such as squeezelite on their CAPS (or any other windows based server) which has allowed him/her to stream music from Rhapsody, MOG, Spotify, etc. specifically through their CAPS USB output? For what it is worth, I plan to run Squeezebox Server on a separate computer on my network, which is my case, will be on my Synology 1812+. As an aside, I know that Vortexbox has the ability to function as a squeezebox player, though I'm not sure how to properly set this up on my CAPSv3 (running win8). Any help from the forum members on this would be greatly appreciated!!!! Best, Battles
  7. Hi Ted, Would you kindly PM me with your sacd ripping guide? I'd like to create a bat file to automate the extraction of multiple ISO sacd rips. I'm just not sure on how to write the bat script and if I understand correctly, your PDF guide illustrates how this is accomplished. Thanks in advance! Battles
  8. Hi Chris, You mention that "Note: The SOtM In-Line SATA Power Noise Filter is not used in the Lagoon design because it doesn't fit with the drive mounted up against the top of the case". All things being equal, would you have preferred to use a SATA filter on the SSD or did your testing determine that there was NO sonic disadvantage of not using the SATA filter? From a pure sonics perspective, has your testing determined that a lower power SSD w/o a SATA filter is superior to that of a mSATA SSD? My apologies if this has been thoroughly discussed in past threads...if it has, if someone would kindly direct me to the relevant thread, I would greatly appreciate. Thanks
  9. Ted, Priaptor, Thanks for your feedback. It sounds like the Lagoon configuration is just what I need. I do have one additional question which Ted may have a perspective on. Chris mentions above that the Lagoon case space constraints does not allow for a Sotm SATA filter between the SSD and the motherboard. Since all of my equipment is located on HRS racks in a mud room located behind my listening room and out of eyesight, I can likely build a Lagoon in a slightly larger case that would accommodate a SATA filter (or just keep the top cover off of the case Chris recommends for the Lagoon). Based on your listening experience, have you had the opportunity to test whether adding a SATA cable filter improves the sound? Thanks again, Blake
  10. Thanks Ted. Assuming that local vs NAS playback quality are equivalent, I agree that the Lagoon would be a very good choice for me (based on your personal listening testing do you believe this to be the case?). I guess the question that will be answered by Chris as he reveals more about the upcoming more powerful CAPs models is whether they sound better compared to the less powerful CAPs models which have been released to date (under the assumption that they are all paired with the Red Wine power supply, as I plan to make this upgrade). If the answer is no, I'll gladly go with the Lagoon because like many folks on the forum I would like to keep my storage centralized vs dispersed throughout the house. Moreover, since I have over 10,000 uncompressed albums on my NAS, I'd like to better understand whether a lowered power CAPs will be just as robust in quickly populating the JRemote interface with coverart, etc. Chris, not sure if you'd be willing to also weigh in on some of the questions I pose above -- if so, I would greatly appreciate it!
  11. Thanks Ted. I really appreciate your prompt feedback. If I'm not mistaken, is it fair to say that your CAPS2+ is very much akin to Chris's CAPS3 Lagoon? I too have a Synology server so it sounds like there really wouldn't be any sonic benefit of building one of Chris's pricier CAPS3 models that have more local storage since I already own a NAS. Would you agree? Also, do you find that JRemote populates the cover art, etc. quickly on atom based computer? Thanks again
  12. Hi Chris, Thanks again for your tireless effort to bring the computer audiophile community one step closer to the absolute sound (whatever that may be)! Just a quick question for you and perhaps others in the forum who may have an informed perspective: when choosing a CAPS model, should any consideration be given to the sonic pluses or minuses of storing music on the local SSD vs. streaming from a NAS? Based on your description above, it sounds like you spend most of the time playing music from your NAS, but I'm not sure if this means you stream from your NAS or transfer files from your NAS onto the local CAPS SSD and then playback. Has your personal listening experience suggested that streaming and local playback yield the same sonic results? Your perspective on this would be greatly appreciated as it will greatly influence whether I (and perhaps others) build a CAPS with more or less local storage capacity. Many thanks! Blake
  13. Chris, thank you for another excellent review. Based on your discussion above, it sounds like the CASH v2 and the Aurender S10 are very close to being at sonic parity when used with the Meitner. That said, in you daily listening, have you tended to default more to using your CASH v2 server + JRivers or the Aurender? I recognize the CASH server, based on your review above, sounds marginally superior to the Aurender, however, I'm curious if the ease of use of the Aurender (ipad interface, automatic transfering of files from spinning drive to ssd drive) has more than offset the sonic advantages of the CASH server and therefore resulted in you opting to use the Aurender more than the CASH server. Which source have you found yourself using more?<br /> <br /> Many thanks (and I apologize for going a little off topic)
  14. Chris, just checking in on when you might be releasing your review on the S10? To what degree have you been pleased with your purchase?
