Hello everyone,
I am new to the whole audiophile thing... But couldn't notice how expensive the hobby can get hardware/software wise...Now I am not a professional sound engineer but definetly went through some stages of undestanding the sound quality. Do not get me wrong here, there is nothing wrong with having expensive gear when you can afford it, otherwise i had to be realistic and work with budget. Any way here is my computer based C.A.S.H set-up suggestion that hopefully will not bankrupt you :
MBP 2,26 kHz C2D x4 Gb DDR3 OS X 10.7 or any PC/MAC of your choice...
M Audio AV 40 Speakers
M Audio ProFire 610 Audio Interface @ 24/192 up sampling rate (can be used for music production as well as stand alone DAC)
x2 Balanced TRS's cables
Furman Power Conditioner M-8Lx
Itunes (ripping in ALAC/AIFF), audirvana (up sampling) - FREE
I honestly do not chase ghosts like (electon directional cables, "mithril" plated connectors, and turn tables manufactured by NASA for deep space sound performance)
This is a basic set up that will not disappoint you
Please feel free to comment
Thx
