Does 5.30 treat non-mqa files differently than 5.20?
-
Waiting on the release of the Mac OS version so I can try this on my micro iDAC2.

Big fan of Eric Johnson! What a mess of cables but creating sound is very different from reproducing sound, no?
-
Just a follow up. Since the bass increased, it was just a bit too much for me. I measured my in-room response using OmniMic. Sure enough, the 20-150 Hz region was up about 2 dB. I lowered the Marantz A/V receivers Subwoofer output from -8.0 to -9.5. It really does not make technical sense to me how a power cable on a Mac mini that is outputting to a USB DAC can make such differences but clearly it does.

Good to know. In my family room system, I don’t think I would go beyond the Pangea cables.

So it is constantly accessing storage devices after all. I never said it was much data just that it’s constant. And those are Writes not Reads. So wear is not a real issue but in my case, I don’t want to hear it. I may go the external SSD route then.
-
So the fact that running an activity capture utility on the NAS generated no log in 5 minutes when Roon was not running but did generate a 25 page log in 3 minutes when Roon was running doesn't tell me anything?
-
First is without Roon running. Second is with Roon running. That constant 2KB/sec. dotted line does not exist when Roon is not running. They are both for about 5 minutes. When I quit Roon and wait a minute, I have no more disk access noise every 10-15 seconds.
-
Yes, I have and it is Roon. Look at my post above that shows the log.

I have been thinking a lot about this over the past month. I really like Roon and want to use it. I looked at getting an external SSD for my iMac so I don't have to hear the constant storage access noise. I just can't seem to put aside the wear factor. Am I over reacting? Have other Roon users just accepted this and don't worry about it?
-
That’s what I heard and why I tried them.

Here is my before and after 1/6th-octave smoothing response of on-wall Monitor Audio SoundFrame 2’s with an old NHT Sub Two i. Before the DSP, the sound was OK but after, it makes me want to listen more.
-
Perhaps and I will be investigating that as well. As my post about that cable said- I am incredibly happy with that $45 purchase. Again- I don't care why. My foot is tapping and my head is bobbing more and that's what puts a smile on my face.

Yes, I must be very quiet! lol

I believe there is a lot that they don’t know about that affects what we hear and either can’t or don’t know how to measure it.
