  1. I recently noticed the same "tremolo" or "flutter" effect on several FLAC files I had purchased from Passionato. These are all from albums coming from Universal Music labels (DG, Decca, Philips). To investigate, I purchased one of the same albums directly from Universal Music, in FLAC format, and compared their files with the copies from Passionato. In each track, the number of samples is exactly the same, but the data is different. The tremolo is clearly audible on the Passionato tracks. It is not present on the FLAC files from Universal Music. I computed the difference of the two wave forms using Audacity: after amplification, the difference is audible as a "chirping" of musical notes and harmonics, without much "hiss". I wrote to Passionato customer support yesterday about this, attaching samples, but have received no response yet.
