    Emotiva?

Paul, I have an Emotiva UPA-2 amp that I use to drive Magnepans and think it is a great bang-for-the-buck amp. After having this amp for a couple of years, I recently upgraded, and the Emotiva is currently not being used. You are welcome to try it if you like (I am in Austin), and if you happen to like it, I will make you a great deal on it. You are welcome to try it even if you have no interest in buying it.
  2. It took me a little while to get my nerve up to do the "razor," but it turned out to be fairly easy to do. The improvement it makes is amazing. I would enjoy getting together sometime. My family and I are on vacation now, so let's touch base in a couple of weeks.
  3. Paul, I recently completed the "razor" tweak on my Magnepans, and it is fantastic. It is also fairly inexpensive and easy to do. Detailed instructions for both the "half razor" and "full razor" can be found at audio asylum under the planar speaker forum under the Tweaks section. This tweak significantly improves the imaging and resolution. I love the Magnepan sound, but sometimes music with a lot going on (whether rock, classical, or other genre) can have a bit of fuzziness or lack of focus on the Magnepans. After doing the razor, I found this to no longer be the case. If you are keeping your MMGs, you may want to consider this tweak. I can understand being more hesitant to do this on a new pair 1.7s, even with it being reversible (although hearing it may convince you otherwise). By the way, it sounds like you might live in Austin, TX...is that right? I live in Austin.
