  1. Yes, the Zenmini looks promising. It's surprising they don't have SPDIF out on the higher end components.
  2. The Wyred4Sound MS is the only thing I’ve seen that combines Roon Core and endpoint in one box. No separate computer needed. I just want one box with Ethernet in, and SPDIF out (I have active speakers with built in DAC). It needs to run Roon and Spotify Connect. I’ve done a lot of digging and can’t find any other options. Any suggestions? Thanks!
  3. Currently running Roon/Tidal on my laptop. Streaming to a Raspberry Pi running ropieee. Allo digital out board plugged into the Pi. To find new music, I'd really like to be able to run Pandora (or maybe Spotify?). Options I see: 1) Roon can run Logitech media server, which can connect to Pandora. Would that work? 2) Get a QNAP NAS, which should be able to run Roon and Pandora.. Any other ideas? Thanks! Rick
  4. Thanks for that link, I had looked around the Synology site but missed that. I'll buy a 215j.
  5. Sigh. What a PITA. I enjoy trips down the rabbit hole as much an anyone, but I do have a day job. OK. So what's the deal with LMS and Synology? Is it supported or not? Do I need a certain CPU? That would get me started, and then I can play with other options when I have time.
  6. Agreed. When CA reviewed the rDAC they said the USB input was better than the SPDIF especially below 200Hz. However - one of the big complaints about the rDAC was the lack of electrical isolation, and the Digi+ is isolated. So that may or may not help matters. Ahhh, life is complicated...
  7. Thanks tranz, that's exactly the sort of info I'm looking for. As far as better controllers, are you referring to JRemote? I'll be using an iPad, but it would be nice to be able to do basic things from my iPhone as well (that's why I use iPeng rather than SqueezePad).
  8. Two reasons - I've read (on this site) that the latest version of LMS is not supported on Synology. Also heard that it depends on which CPU the Synology has. So I'm doing some research before I dive in. I have another thread where I asked how much processing power is needed but haven't gotten any traction there... Second reason is that if there is something better out there, then I want to know.
  9. Would love to know how RPi with HiFiBerry Digi board (with the galvanic isolation option) compares to the sMS-100... The RPi B+ with Digi+ doesn't require any soldering.
  10. Thanks Ted. You like those better than LMS? If there's no reason to wrestle with the LMS/Synology combo then I won't bother.
  11. Currently using LMS on a Widows 7 machine, and controlled via iPad with iPeng, but I want to replace the PC with a NAS. My understanding is that LMS can be installed on the Synology, but this is not supported, and can require Linux experience to get it running. It sounds like a can of worms? What are my other options? MinimServer?
  12. That would indeed foil my plans... Can someone comment further on this?
  13. From: https://github.com/ralph-irving/squeezelite/blob/master/ChangeLog.txt Version 1.4 28/12/13 ==================== Features - native support of dsd playback to dop capable dac or via conversion to pcm and resampling - support dop in flac playback to dop dacs
  14. From the Digi website: "Dedicated S/PDIF interface chip supports up to 192kHz/24bit resolution". I think the available formats are determined by the version of SqueezeLite that piCorePlayer is using. You can select Triodes or Ralphys version. From the piCorePlayer configuration screen: "Ralphys newest version. Download and update Squeezelite. This one allows upsampling using SOX and can play wma and alac via ffmpeg" That's all I know at the moment. Just got this running a couple days ago and haven't experimented with a lot of different formats yet.
