  1. Miska: Will the HQplayer send DSD in integer mode to the Wire4Sound DAC2 DSD SE?
  2. Miska: Since it takes so much computer power to do room correction in DSD, is it possible for HQplayer to make all the room corrections in DSD, but instead of sending the processed DSD to a DAC directly, just saves the processed DSD to a hard disk and let us play the processed DSD file later without any additional process? Thanks in advance.
  3. Miska: So you have the mean to control the volume in DSD domain. Is there a loss of sound quality after certain level of attenuation?
  4. Correction: According to EMM brochure, the analog section features one active gain stage from DAC to output. The circuitry is discrete (no op-amps) and operates in pure class A.
  5. Little things like that seem to emerge from the music when playing back the DSD file. It's not a huge thing, and some listeners may not even be sensitive to it. But it's there and it conveys an analog-like coherence to the performance. From my limited exposure to it, that’s the DSD difference. Russ Russ: Thanks for the info. You just convinced me to ripped all my SACD's and play the music thru an DSD capable DAC. I only listen to classical music, the 'little things' that you mentioned is most critical to me. Now I just need to find an SACD capable PS3.
  6. There is a big difference in the analog section between EMM and MSB. EMM is using ceramic board with a single discrete amplification transistor. MSB is using an op amp for even the most expensive Diamond model.
  7. I listened to a variety of DSF files extracted from my SACD collection and the sound is just stunning. The DSF tracks uniformly have an organic ease and flow that is just different from PCM. I would not describe the DAC2 as being overly bright or analytical when playing back DSD. Russ Hi Russ: Have you compared the sound quality between SACD playing on OPPO 103 and the same track ripped into DSF playing on DAC2? thanks
  8. It makes sense. Actually I am trying to get a CECHA machine tomorrow, so I just want to make sure. Please PM me the instruction on how to rip SACD when you have time. Many thanks.
  9. Hi Ted: Does it means my PS3 of CECHG~ without SACD playback feature can now rip SACD also? Thanks in advance.
  10. I don't think such a challenge is neccessary. It is possible that the system you setup for such a comparison is not transparent enough to resolve the difference.
  11. From reading all the posts, I found those who said there is no difference between FLAC and WAV are defending their position more passionately and some time insulting those who can hear the difference. Generally in sound system, if you cannot hear what other people said, it does not mean it does not exist. Every sound system has certain level of resoluion or transparency. There is no point to beleive your own system is the best and nobody else can have a better system. In my system, WAV sounds better than FLAC.
  12. To make it a little bit more controversial, WAV file sounds better than FLAC file. I download 192/24 file in FLAC, convert it to WAV using a PC. The WAV file sounds better. The difference is kind of subtle. You can only detect it in music passage that is fast pace, dynamic and with lots of different instruments.
  13. With the latest firmware, the OPPO 95 can display image from flac file. Other interesting bits I discovered when connecting hardrive to OPPO 95: - ESATA connection sounds better than USB. More dynamic. More details. - Using battery power supply for the ESATA drive improves the sound quality tremendously.
