  1. Chris - excellent review as always. I ordered an Aurlic Aries a couple of weeks ago to play with and look forward to checking it out.
  2. Hi Buffalo Boy - to clarify, yes, I do love the Lumin, but I also think the Devialet is awesome. I would love to own one myself one day. In my review, I mentioned how great the Devialet was, including the exceptional phonostage. HOWEVER, what I did say was that, other than the phonostage, any ADA conversion produces less than desirable results (as can be expected from any ADA conversion). IF you stay within the Devialet domain (all digital with the exception of the phonostage), then the Devialet is a fantastic product. As for the Lumin, well, you could run BNC out of the Lumin and into the COAX of the Devialet - keeping everything in the digital domain. However, I THINK you are probably talking about running analog out of the Lumin and into one of the analog inputs of the Devialet. Yes, it's possible, but as mentioned above, might not be as sonically excellent as the other inputs on the Devialet. Hopefully this answers your question. Thank you to Chris for such an excellent, informative forum. Mike
  3. Does anyone know of a program like TuneUp that runs independent of iTunes, but can scan your music files and fill in missing Metadata?
  4. I sure did! I'm going to try out the Lumin streamer.
  5. Thanks Pedro. Lumin tech support has been terrific as well.
  6. Thanks Eloise. I am assuming the Linn does not suffer this same fate?
  7. As a follow up, I had read that one of the negatives of the Lumin was that when you add new music, you had to reboot the NAS in order for it to show up in the music list. Is this still the case?
  8. I'm looking at a streamer - either a Lumin or Linn Akurate DS. Does anyone here have experience with the Lumin? I have heard the Akurate several times and its terrific. But I'm curious how the Lumin would compare to it. DSD is nice, but not critical since most of the DSD material right now is the SOS. I'm most interested in the SQ of redbook and high res PCM.
  9. Any update on this? Did you go with Linn?
  10. Welcome to the forum Mike!

  11. I just sold it about two weeks ago. This summer, I was fortunate to be part of three "big DAC shootouts" at our local audiophile club. Although the Marantz was consistently a good performer (and usually finished second in blind testing), the Meitner MA-1 was consistently selected as the best sounding DAC (blind testing - even by me!) After the third round, I had to admit the MA-1 was better and sold the Marantz to get the MA-1. That being said, dollar for dollar and based on pure features, the Marantz represents an excellent value. If my budget was in the $2500-3500 or less range, I would definitely be putting the Marantz on my list to audition.
  12. Has anyone ever compared these two head to head? I have the MA-1 and have considered moving to the Klimax DS (pity it doesn't do DSD natively)....but I guess I can always convert my DSD files to FLAC. Looking to hear from folks who have compared these two products. Thanks!!
