  1. I did find this Behringer USB audio interface, although it indicates "48 kHz converters" ... I'm guessing I want something which supports 96kHz? http://www.amazon.com/Behringer-UCA202-Audio-Interface/dp/B000KW2YEI
  2. Thanks - that's an option, I do have a PCIe slot available; checked newegg, didn't find the Behringer, and the M-audio was only available in PCI flavor
  3. I'm considering using JRMC on my htpc to output audio via a USB audio adapter into a P3A DAC. I've seen some $$$ USB audio options talked about on this site, but since I'm going to use an external DAC, guess I'm wondering why a $300-500 USB audio adapter is needed. So I was hoping to find recommendations for a USB audio adapter which has either coax/SPDIF or optical/TOSlink outputs? Thanks!
  4. I checked out the Musical Fidelity V-Link and Halide Bridge USB-to-SPDIF solutions ... was surprised they're so pricey, at ~$500! At that price, I'm inclined to go with the squeezebox touch, to be honest. My only concern with the touch is control - I wouldn't typically interface with the touch from the touch panel, but would instead rely upon iphone/ipad or web browser control. I know that iPeng as well as the free Logitech app can provide control from the latter; but can anyone advise whether the Touch is accessible/controllable from a web interface?
  5. Re: "add a USB to SPDIF converter to your HTPC" ... I'd love to dual purpose the MCE htpc for this use, but my experience with Win7 audio is that it can only output audio to one sound device at a time, not multiple ones? eg, if I'm using the htpc's optical out into reciever for MCE, would JRMC be constrained to using that sane output? Or could JRMC be configured to use the USB device you mentioned, while MCE continues to use the inboard optical?
  6. So I have a DAC sitting in the closet which I've been meaning to employ (Perpetual P3-A). But I need a transport for it, and would far prefer a digital player rather than a CD transport, as my collection is (or will soon be) digital. Granted, I've been ripping to mp3 (via dbPowerAmp @ VBR -V1 ~220kbps), and I realize that streaming MP3 into an external DAC is probably anathema to many audiophiles (although I'm curious whether a DAC would positively affect quality even for MP3s?); however I'm definitately willing to rerip my prime selections to FLAC. So I'd like to find a _compact_ digital player/transport which can pipe optical or coax output into the P3-A DAC. No local storage required, I'll be streaming music off a file store (NAS) on my network. Ability to stream music via Airplay to the transport would be nice, but not a must-have. Control of the transport is key ... whether the control is accomplished via web browser, iphone/ipad app, remote control (w/video out interface) (all three would be nice), the ability to navigate/find music is critical. I do have an HTPC (Windows MCE, used for DVR & movie streaming), but would prefer not deploying another one solely for music (why not use the HTPC I already have for music? I don't want to lose the DD/DTS processing, as it's digital output is going right into the processor ... and the P3A DAC only handles stereo processing). Some options I've come across in googling include... - PS Audio Perfect Wave Transport (uber expensive, and appears to have poor control interface) - Logitech Transporter SE (fairly expensive) - Logitech Squeezebox Touch (relatively cheap, reputed to have decent iphone/ipad interface) - Marantz NA7004/M-CR603 (overkill, both appear to be fulls unit with amps; I just need a front-end transport) Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
