  1. I was wondering how using your Air as a Music Server was Going. Currently I use an All in one Gateway PC hooked to a V-Dac and V-link running J River. I also have an 13" 2010 Macbook Air and a 2001 11" Air, was considering using the 13" with the V-Dac and V-Link and an external drive to act as my Server.
  2. Hooked it all up tonight and it sounds pretty Nice, I still give the edge to J River and Using the Vdac with the Vlink, but I don't miss having the PC in the system, the ATV2 is so tiny it hardly can be seen sitting on my CD Player, and I'm using the iPhone Remote to run it. In the Computer's place is a new Turntable that I just received today, along with a SHure Mx-97. Is Vinyl a dirty word around here?
  3. well if i utilize both the Vlink and Vdat would'nt that combat the jitter, and using it headless with an Ipad is a good Idea. Alac vs Aiff now thats another choice..
  4. I currently have a setup with a PC running J River Media Center and interfacing to a VDac and Vlink. It sounds pretty Nice, but I've been considering due to space considerations, of moving the PC into another room, and converting to Aiff's and using Itunes and and Apple TV2 to stream into the Dacs. First would that work? I'm currently using USB but I would have to go out from Toslink on the ATV to Toslink on the Dac's. Then am I correct to assume that I would not need the Vlink in that situation?. And Lastly if anyone is using such a configuration and could comment on the sound quality, and if it would be a substantial downgrade... Thanks Guys
  5. My Touch is used for apps and Vids I turn to Cowon for Music , just picked up a C2, with 48gb (16 onboard and 32 thru sdhc) Plaing my Flac rips its audio Nirvana
  6. I'm sure it all comes down to the Studio worrying that allowing CD Quality DL will destroy the already Dead Audio CD Market, what I cannot figure out is why they have'nt embraced this happenning. If they figure most people are using their music on Portable devices, it's gotta be cheaper to produce that then a physical disk. Look at the ebook market, the cost of an ebook is the same as the Dead tree version, which has gotta be cheaper to produce? Which has more profit? Itunes could allow much like HDtracks which version the user wants to DL thru Itunes, he can keep DL the Itunes Plus 256vbr version if he has limited space, or an option for an Apple Lossless or AIFF version.
  7. I saw on iTunes this Mastered for iTunes stuff for the new Beastie Boys album, I said oh boy here we go... It's an unfortunate reality that as we move onto the future fidelity is going right out the window and people are settling for MP3 quality sound. It makes no sense we should be going the other direction since you can get a 2 tb Hard Drive for 70 bucks
  8. If I wanted to buy the best versions of Beatles on CD what should I Be looking For?
  9. Thats why I bought the V-link to be able to go thru the SPdif, I was told it would work in that combination with the V-Dat, but I see it does not.
  10. It would'nt work with the V-Dac only I was told it would with the V-Link, reason why I got it, guess I'd rather have the Asynchronous USB and be limited to 96.
  11. Just recently bought the HDtracks Eagles Hotel California at 192. JR 15 and V-Lnk/V-Dat Combo won't play it, it makes me Down sample it to 96. I have the output set to Wasapi.
  12. I just picked up a V-Dac and V-link combo for the Eagles HC Release any benefit to me going 192/24 over 96/24?
  13. I did'nt realize that the blu ray of Mojo offered the hi rez DL, I picked up Mojo on Disc and its a great sounding Album, I have an Oppo 83 but its in my Basement HT not im My Living Room with my Audio Gear and PC with Dac. If they offered a version like this with every Blu release then I'm all for it. Otherwise I'd rather an HDTracks Like Solution.
  14. I am very impressed with the marked improvement I get just out of the V-Dac, most notably in the vocal and midrange areas. It has a bredth or expansiveness just missing before. My PC does not have a toslink out, even thou I don't have many hi res tracks I plan to buy more. So I think I'll pick up a V-Link. Now does the v-link require power? I've ordered a 12v power supply for the V-Dac, I imagine I could run both off of it.
  15. I just bought a v-dac from Amazon and I wanted to see if I understand this. It will provide converion only to 16/44.1 files, if I want to use it with hirez files like you get off of HDtracks you have to get a V-link as a companion. And would the hookup go something like this? From the PC to the Vlink via USB. From the Vlink TOSLINK to the V-Dac Toslink Input, V-Dac out via RCA's to the back of my Amlifier. Do I have that right? And If I skip the V-link its just into the PC via USB and then out to the Amp via RCA's ? I've only DL one album from HD tracks, but I might have to spring for a V-Link.
