  1. Anyone have any experience with these units? I'm primarily interested in running the s/pdif rca output from my Sooloos music server into these units and using their DAC output. Thanks, Matsaly
  2. Bill, I appreciate your input. I have my eye on a WFS DAC2. I know that the sooloos leverages Meridians considerable digital expertise and claims to have low jitter output. As always system synergy is paramount. I appreciate your bringing the other DAC's to my attention. I was unaware of their existence prior to your comments. Thanks for sharing.
  3. I'm interested in commentary on DAC's under $3k that feature a s/pdif input. I recently purhchased a Meridian Sooloos Media Core 200 ($4k) that ONLY has s/pdif digital outputs. Does anyone have experience with the new Grace m903? Alternativley are there s/pdif output cables to USB input cables so that I could consider units like the Ayre QB9? Thanks, Matsaly
  4. Thanks for all the commentary and suggestions so far. I should have known that Monster would throw their hat in the ring. I'd now like to ask for advice on whether to purchase a shielded or unshielded cable. I live in a high-rise condo right in the middle of Boston. I'm literally hundreds of yards away from a major hospital and a TV station and am concerned about EMI/RF interference. I mentioned earlier that I need to run a 40 foot ethernet connection. Due to the lack of space behind my audio racks, the ethernet cable will be directly next to power cables and interconnects. In addition one of my components use a "brink type" power supply and the ethernet cable will literally brush up against it. Maximum performance is my goal. Cost is not an issue: shielded or unshielded Cat6/6a?
  5. Chris, First and foremost, a thank you for developing this website. It's been a great source of info for me and I'm sure untold others who are interested in exploring this new frontier in audio playback. Audioquest currently produces a "high quality" ethernet cable in a 2 meter length only. I spoke with AQ's sales manager who told me that custom lengths are not available. He mentioned that AQ is keenly interested in developing high quality ethernet cables and that other products are in the development pipeline. While no release dates were mentioned, I was left with the understanding that new product may be available late 2011. I placed an order for a pair in the 2 meter length to try between my cable modem/router/pc. After I've got some experience with them, I'll try to follow up with my observations. In the interim I'll follow your advice and try the Augmented Cat6 cable from Micro Connectors you recommend. Perhaps you should add these to your C.A.S.H. list.
  6. Hi, I'm a seasoned audio hobbist who is just starting out in computer audio. I'm about to purchase an AIO music server (Sooloos or Olive 06HD). I intend to control my server via an Ipad. In addition to hi-res file playback, I wish to access internet radio and content services like rhapsody. My understanding is that a hard-wired RJ45 connection from my music server to my router is the preferred connection method. I need a 40 foot run from my router to music server. Does anyone have any knowledge and experience with "high quality" RJ45 cables? Audioquest lists "communication cable" under their interconnect product heading. Are there any other manufacturers someone can recommend. I know that Meridian markets "speakerlink" which they suggest is best used with their loudspeaker line. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.
