I am working with a client who has a high end 2 channel system. Mostly analog with 2 phonographs, 3 reel to reel players, and some very nice Rowland gear and Rockport speakers. He just bought a Rowland DAC and wants to connect his iMac. The computer is across the room. It is a 50 foot cable run through a conduit to the audio system.
The dac has spdif, bnc, toslink, and usb inputs. It seems that the ideal connection here would be to use a usb converter at the computer and a 50' cable to the dac.
I have not asked for a budget yet because I do not know our options and the price range for good products in this category. Let's here some suggestions. Thank you.
